    1. Hey Dan. First of all, thanks for all the information. I imagine that eventually Pine will work his way on to the list. Only one of the current Top 10….that seems pretty amazing. But the 12 Oscar winners is pretty impressive…especially when looking at the length of his career. As always…you are the man for sharing these lists.

  2. One of my favorite actors working today. I like how he is balancing small movies with major blockbusters. He seems to be an actor that will be here for awhile. Like Steve I hope he makes at least one more Star Trek movie.

    1. Hey SteinHOF….I agree….in some ways he is following Bruce Willis’ blueprint….going from huge big budget movies to interesting supporting roles in movies he finds interesting. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

  3. I really enjoyed the Star Trek reboot/prequel and thought Chris Pine really nailed the part of young James Tiberius Kirk, the swagger and charisma which William Shatner brought to the role decades ago was all there. The other cast members were effective in their roles too, particularly Zachary Quinto. Their last Trek wasn’t as successful as the others but I hope they make another one.

I’ve seen 14 of the 22 films listed here. The ones I’ve enjoyed include – The three Star Trek movies, This Means War, Smokin’ Aces and most recently Wonder Woman.

Hell or High Water was a pretty good movie, though a little overrated. Z for Zachariah had an interesting premise but I thought it was a bit dull. I haven’t seen any of the Princess Diaries movies.

Good to see Star Trek 2009 topping the UMR and Critics charts.

Looking at the trivia – fans of Chris Pine being known as Pine Nuts, that’s nice. Did you know that fans of SF author Philip K. Dick are known as D*ckheads? Yes this is so. Dick wrote the stories that Blade Runner, Total Recall and Minority Report were loosely based on.

Another top job Bruce. Vote Up.

    1. Hey Steve….thanks for the comment on Captain Kirk. I have really enjoyed the Star Trek movies as well….I actually thought Beyond was the best of the reboot….I was sad it did not do as well as the other Trek movies.

Tally count…I am at 19….#20 The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement has been sitting on my DVD shelf for years just waiting to be watched…my daughters love those movies….but so far I have been able to resist…lol.

I enjoyed Hell or High Water more than you did….Pine, Jeff Bridges and Ben Foster give some awesome performances in that one. I think Pinenuts is way better than D*ckheads…lol.

      Good stuff as always.

  4. HOWDY AGAIN BIG CHIEF HIRSCHHORN!. Was saying to Pappy “Wish that varmint Joel’s book was as well written and interesting as his posts on this site.” I take it that this Work Horse who keeps getting plugs on the site is just a nickname for some galoot who a***s about the site and is not a real horse. If though he IS a real horse and because he is obviously a willing slave I wouldn’t mind hiring him and riding him across the range in one of my movies.

I couldn’t pay him the lavish fee that little Asta got though. That cute little all-American doggie was the only help that Bill Powell had in carrying that Thin Man series at the box office whereas I can carry my own movies though genuine leading actresses like Lana and Sue Hayward do help boost the box office. Anyway if the Work Horse is not a real horse I can live with that provided he’s a Real American.

By the way some chump on this site keeps referring to a Thin Woman series. I take it that the tag is a spoof take on that Loy dame. Certainly Bill’s just right to keep her pinned down as a virtual extra in his movies as wives should always be kept in the background so that they won’t get in the way of a man doing what a man’s gotta to do. I mean who would want dolls like that Kelly broad continually getting in the way of the action as she did with Cooper?

Which leads me to protest about the way that this Cogerson critter’s gal seems to keep sticking her nose in on this site. Some fillies make the cut in my estimation like Miss Crawford who held her own with me in Reunion in France but generally speaking Pardner Cogerson should be advised that just as “An Englishman’s home is his castle” a Real American man should be Big Chief in his own wigwam and the squaws should usually be kept out of it if I may coin a few new colloquial phrases which I hope won’t sound too chauvinistic .

My classic brainchild The Alamo has a wonderful theme tune The Green Leaves Summer to which some guy has recently attached lyrics. Could you not sing those Joel instead of that rock stuff that you keep belting out? Chill Wills tells me that round the campfire the other night somebody played your music and he couldn’t hear the coyotes howl. He prefers to listen to those little doggies but concedes their howling is not unlike your vocal chanting. As you may know, Chill does the voice of Francis the Talking Mule and, as he like me loves this site, as a tribute to it he was thinking of asking Universal to change the animal’s name to Francis the Talking Horse. If so would that get Francis an extra star from you Joel?

    1. BRUCE

Please see the previous post from The Duke which strayed somehow into my own E Mail system and which I have reproduced. I had to suppress some of his original text because it was full of Bruce Willis type language if you know what I mean and seemed to be a protest about W o C liking Wonder Woman. It is appears that it was the latter that set Big John off again as he thinks the tag Wonder Woman is a contradiction in terms.

        1. HI BRUCE

Your site I may forget but your kindness never. Seriously Bruce I am much obliged. it could be getting complicated enough as it is for other site users with all these long dead idols seemingly popping up on the site.

          Best wishes BOB

    2. Hey John…sadly there is no critical outlook on Chris Pine from Mr. Hirschhorn. I know I am tearing up too. Gotta admit you are indeed sounding pretty chauvinistic…lol. Things have changed since you became a superstar almost 80 years ago. Interesting comment.

  5. I will play the tally game for the first time. I have seen 9 of his movies. Most recently, Wonder Woman, which I really enjoyed.
