1/I have seen Drew Barrymore in just two movies – Lensman Forever and Scream- and in none of her television appearances.

2/On top of her movie career she has been in 19 TV productions so far; and has made 4 musical videos.

3/She has previously directed 2 and produced/executive produced all-told 13 film projects of various kinds including some of the movies in which she has also starred – for example two of the 3 Stevie’s Angels films; and she also executive produced the 3rd and latest one in that franchise without it seems appearing in it.

4/In the pipeline for Drew is the COMPLETED comedy movie The Stand-In where she stars as well as being executive producer. Also she has been ANNOUNCED as executive producer of one further episode of the TV crime/mystery series Blooms which began in 2017.

5/Drew has a reported current net worth of $125 million; and IMDB credits her with 34 acting awards and 59 nominations.

Hi Bob, “I’m late! I’m late!” said the white rabbit. Apologies and thanks for reviewing my Drew Barrymore video, the generous rating and info are much appreciated. Happy you liked the picture gallery.

I was planning to do a video on Drew Barrymore eventually and decided now was as good a time as any, following my videos on the three great Barrymores.

Looking at your first post she has done very well moneywise, the older Barrymore’s would have been proud of naughty Drew, or maybe not. 😉

‘Lensman Forever’ has a nice ring to it. 🙂

She had a tiny role as William Hurt’s daughter in Ken Russell’s Altered States, her debut movie but I didn’t include it here.

Two of Drew’s films scored 10 out of 10 – Scream and E.T.

There are no films scoring 9 but several scored 8 out of 10 including – Donnie Darko, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Everyone Says I Love You.

Top rated at IMDB is Donnie Darko and E.T. is no.1 at Rotten Tomatoes.

“My parents are not bad people. It was just a case of them not wanting a child.”

“I believe in fate. I believe that everything happens for a reason, but I think it’s important to seek out that reason – that’s how you learn.”

HI STEVE: Thanks for the feedback – always useful and interesting. Oddly enough it was not until recently that I connected Drew with THE Barrymores: I though that her surname was just a coincident. [I take it that that disgraced character Michael Barrymore of TV fame is not part of the clan!]. I don’t think that her grandfather who hung about with Flynn would regard ANYONE as too naughty!

You may have seen my recent posts about the Beatles. That subject [you being a ‘lad of Manchester’- sorry I can’t refer to you as a Ladd of that city] reminds me that my dad was a great Liverpool FC supporter and of course like all such soccer fans he hated Man U.

Accordingly as the press often referred to the Beatles as “4 lads from Liverpool” [long before The Donald came to the forefront] my brothers and I used to wind-up dad by saying that the press were indulging in “fake news” [though we didn’t use that term back then] and that the Beatles were really Mancunians by birth.

As dad hated not just the Beatles but pop music generally and Elvis and the Beatles in particular he would angrily snap back “I don’t care where they came from – they’re all jokes!”

By the way it’s not just The Work Horse and Hirsh that have been able to become professional authors and write things –

“It was there on the shelf
That he made all by himself.
            Because he’s very good with his hands, his hands;
He’s very, very good with his hands”

That’s a short poem by John Lennon. John also wrote short stories including a very brief piece called No Flies on Frank which ran for just a page and a half in a book of short HORROR stories that I once owned. As you like horror stuff I have reproduced for you in Part 2 of this post No Flies on Frank in its entirety.

    Hi

For me her definitive role is in E.T. I realised that she’s made a lot of movies as an adult and many of them quite good, like The Wedding Singer. But for me she’ll always be that little enchanting girl in E.T. Extra Terrestrial.

Hey Chris….we are in the same boat. Somebody commented that the fact that she is now in her 40s made them feel old….I feel the same way. The Wedding Singer is one of the few Adam Sandler movies that my wife will watch. Sadly her Sandler movies went downhill after their first…with Blended being just terrible. As always thanks for commenting and sharing your movie thoughts.

Hey Katie…thanks for sharing your favorite Drew movies….I am actually surprised that Fever Pitch made your list. I know you were not much of a ET fan.

Good timing on my part…I wish I could say it was planned….but I have to admit I did not know her birthday was so close. Thanks for the update.
