Eileen Brennan (1932-2013) was an Oscar® nominated American actress.  Brennan was a gifted, versatile player who could reach dramatic depths, as exemplified in her weary-eyed, good-hearted waitress in 1971’s The Last Picture Show (1971), or comedy heights, as in her sadistic drill captain in 1980’s Private Benjamin. Her IMDb page shows 128 acting credits from 1960 to 2013.  This page will rank Eileen Brenan movies from Best to Worst in six different sortable columns of information.  To do well in our overall rankings a movie has to do well at the box office, get good reviews by critics, be liked by audiences, and get some award recognition.

  1. i saw 9 including her top 8. 10 and favorite the sting. 9s not favorites: the last picture show, the scarecrow(a hidden gem) which was her 4th highest UMR reviewed movie ,only 4 were rated over 70%. she is a classic WoC rule of 39. no good UMR scores after age 38. really only 9 productive big screen years.

    1. Hey bob cox…hope you are staying safe….seems you live in some areas that have had some serious spikes in the virus. Thanks for the tally count, the feedback and the ratings. Good shout out to the curse of 39. The Sting is a favorite as well. Scarecrow is good but so depressing. Good stuff as always.

  2. Hey Dan. Good information as always. Actually…I just got through commenting to Steve…that for some reason I have always gotten Cloris Leachman, Madeline Kahn and Eileen Brennan mixed up. I wrote Brennan made a few movies with Leachman but none with Kahn. Well your lists proof me wrong….as Kahn made 3 movies with Brennan as well.

Looking at the first list…..Cloris Leachman gets the honors as most frequent Oracle co-star with 4 movies. Surprised she did not make a single movie with anybody in the Oracle Top 10. Looking at the second list…I would say 21 is on the low average…Murder By Death certainly helped her get to 21 Oscar winning co-stars. Good stuff as always.
