  1. Hello, would you know the title of a movie that Eve starred as benefactor to young people in helping them stage a big show. There was a scene in which a group of hopefuls are in the canteen and sitting round a round table and pass under the table a shared piece of chewing gum.
    Kind regards, Beryl

  2. I have 3 of her films,”Milderd Pierce”,”One Touch of Venus” and ‘Grease”.An interesting actress, pity she wasn’t given any starring roles, she had the chops for it.

    1. Hey Richard S. Thanks for the feedback on Eve Arden. I have seen all three of the movies you have seen. I liked all three of them. I agree, she did not get the chance for many starring roles. Thanks for stopping by.

  3. Hello Bruce,
Eve Arden was a very good supporting actress, and for me of course it is Grease and Manpower who are the references.
I am so sorry I don’t remember her in Mildred Pierce.
Last night we have a good bye party for my son who goes for a lot months at foreign country for study and everybody was 24 or 25 years old.
That was simply great and funny because I try to speak about all the glorious legends of Hollywood, and my god apart Marylin Monroe they don’t know anything.
Not the silent movie, except Charlot. Gable Stewart and Cooper nobody knows.
Dietrich they know the name but no films no songs, and all the ten first legends male or female completely forgotten for them.
What it was funny two of them made two years of movie history…..!!!!!….
In fact they know french cinema but when I spoke of Danielle Darrieux the only answer was silence…..
I remember Coco Chanel who said, the only thing against legends, actors and actresses is simply….. the time….
    Good day
    Pierre

    1. Hey Pierre….thanks for the thoughts on Eve Arden. Surprised you do not remember her “best friend” part in Mildred Pierce….granted…as good as that movie was…..it was probably the third best actress part in the movie…..as Joan Crawford won an Oscar as the mom….and Ann Blyth got nominated for playing the “evil” daughter. All three got Oscar nominations for the movie. Grease is one of the few musicals I enjoy….but admit…I have not seen Manpower….but I want to. Sounds like a fun party with your son. The younger generations…some do not appreciate the classics…..so much to learn…they do…done in my Yoda voice…lol. I do a survey at the beginning of each class I teach….one of the questions on that survey….is your favorite actor or actress? Of the 1000s of responses so far…..only John Wayne and Dorothy Dandridge have gotten a single vote. Now Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson have gotten 100s of votes. So I feel your pain about Danielle Darrieux. Good stuff as always.

  4. I saw 7 including top 5. 10s and favorites: anatomy of a murder, stage door. 10 not favorite: cover girl. 9 and favorite: night and day. 8s not favorites: mildred pierce, grease, dancing lady. no hidden gems

    1. Hey bob cox…..thanks for sharing your movie thoughts on Eve Arden. I have seen 11 of her movies…way more than I thought I had seen. I agree with most of your ratings with the exception of Night And Day….as that is one of my least liked Cary Grant movies. Her part in Dancing Lady was very small….but what a cast in that one…Crawford, Astaire, Gable, The Three Stooges and Arden. Good stuff.
