  1. Another guy who was not in my database. Everett was never ever on the Oracle of Bacon Top 1000 Center of the Hollywood Universe list. What can you say for a man although in few films (lots of TV though) who was in everything from Citizen Kane to swashbucklers with Tony Curtis (or fell too) to Jerry Lewis films. Patterns is a great movie, of course so is Citizen Kane and though I jest of Curtis and Lewis those are not half bad movies either. These are the actors on the 2016 list who appeared with him;

40 HARRY DEAN STANTON The Man from the Diners’ Club (1963)
65 ROBERT LOGGIA Somebody Up There Likes Me (1956)

313 GEORGE KENNEDY The Man from the Diners’ Club (1963)
468 JASON ROBARDS By Love Possessed (1961)
681 ANTHONY QUINN Lust for Life (1956)

    1. Hey Dan
      1. So Everett Sloane did not make your database…..for shame…for shame…..lol. I actually was not too aware of him either…..so I can easily understand him not being in your database.
      2. List 1…..sadly I think all of those people are no longer with us…Rod Taylor was probably the last man standing.
      3. List 2…..only one Bess Flowers movie?….I guess his career was lacking.
      4. 18 Oscar winners is a pretty good percentage based on only 25 movies.
      5. Even more appreciative that you did this list….especially since he was not in the database….great stuff as always.

  2. Everett Sloan has appeared in a good many of Hollywood’s classics, and all of them have gained added stature by his presence.

    Everette Sloan 4 Star Performances
    1941’s Citizen Kane
    1943’s Journey Into Fear
    1948’s Lady From Shanghai
    1950’s The Men
    1955’s The Big Knife
    1956’s Lust For Life
    1958’s Marjorie Morningstar

  3. I have seen 12 Everett Sloan movies. I do know Sloan mostly from Citizen Kane, I have seen it so often. The Lady From Shanghai has an iconic ending in a hall of mirrors and Sloane is a big part of that movie.

My 5 favourite Everett Sloane movies are:

    Citizen Kane
    The Lady From Shanghai
    The Desert Fox
    Home From the Hill
    The Big Knife

    The others I have seen are;
    Lust For Life
    The Enforcer
    The Men
    Somebody Up There Likes Me
    Journey Into Fear
    By Love Possessed
    Sirocco

    1. Hey Flora
      1. Thanks for checking out the new page……not thinking he is going to be a huge draw……but having 24 of his 25 movies in the database, seemed like something we should do.
      2. Steve and I have you beat….as our COMBINED total of 13 takes you down….my 5 barely helped us get a win….lol.
      3. I have seen the Top 3 you listed….with Citizen Kane being my favorite.
      4. Somebody Up There Likes Me is a movie that I always wanted to watch.
      Good stuff.

  4. Hey Steve. I am at 5 Everett Sloan movies seen. So you have me beat. Actually I was completely unaware of him until a few days ago….and then a Facebook conversation brought him up. When I looked him up in my database…..he was only listed one time….his role in Citizen Kane. Then when I looked at his career I realized that we had 23 more of his movies already on the database….so having to only research one of his movies got him an UMR page.

That is interesting that you know him more for a Jerry Lewis movie versus his role in the greatest movie ever made. Thanks for checking out our latest page….it is always appreciated.

  5. Is the UMR going through a supporting actor phase Bruce? [cue Bruce nodding] Is Lee J. Cobb next? Ward Bond? Eric Blore? Pat O’Brien? Sir Cedric [That’s Enough Steve!]

I’ve seen 8 of the 25 films on the chart, they are Citizen Kane, The Patsy, Disorderly Orderly, Journey Into Fear, The Desert Fox, Prince of Foxes, The Big Knife and Lust for Life.

I remember Sloane best not from Citizen Kane but as the hospital chief in the comedy classic The Disorderly Orderly, a film I watched many times on video during the 80s.

Looks like Citizen Kane did okay at the box office, well it did better than Bogart, Brando, Jerry Lewis and Vincent Van Gogh on that chart.

    Good work Bruce. Vote Up!
