  1. CONGRATULATIONS TO AMAL AND GEORGE CLOONEY ON THE BIRTH OF TWINS !!

This is good news also for movie fans as it DOUBLES the chance that the talented dynasty started by Aunt Rosemary will continue to entertain us well into the future.

  2. 1 George Clooney is way near the top of my own list of favourite modern movie stars and indeed I am almost tempted to mix him in with my idols from the classic era as he has always struck me as more like the stars of that time than like many of those who are around now

    2 I see in him as an underplayer like Tracy with the suaveness of Grant in the latter’s more serious roles and the social conscience of Redford and Newman. Whilst there is of course modern swearing in George’s films and while I have not been keeping count it is my impression that George uses relatively few bad words himself in most of his movies;

3 I read an article not long ago that suggested that the Danny Ocean films apart George had limited box office pull. It is true that if that franchise is removed George’s stats would take a fair hit with his Cogerson 100 million dollar films being reduced to a low 6 for a start.

4 Against that though he has a string of superb acting and other artistic credits to his name which Bruce has amply covered in Possibly Interesting Facts 2 and 3 above; he has had a glorious run in Quigley with 9 Top 10 entries between 2000 and 2011**; and Bruce has highlighted as well George’s success as a “sex symbol” while at the same time reminding us of his humanitarian work.

5 So in the round George has had a career that many actors can only dream about and one wonders what Aunt Rosie would think of her boy now! Cousin Miguel looks more like Jose Ferrer’s clone than his son !!

6 It will be interesting to see where George’s career goes from here as he has not had a Cogerson million dollar grosser since the monster hit Gravity three years ago and his two releases so far this year would appear to have been out-and-out flops. However even if his acting career declines George has proved that he has so much talent in the other aspects of moviemaking that the good news for Clooney watchers such as I is that our idol may well like the poor in the Bible “always be with you”.

    1. Hey Bob…..I figured you would like this updated page….more than me for sure….lol.
1.Clooney the next Tracy….I think his suave and coolness makes him more the next Cary Grant….which pains me to say because Grant is one of my all-time favorites.
      2. You take away the Ocean movies and his career is filled with many less than stellar box office movies….but in fairness to him….his movies have a really good review scores.
      3. Not thinking he earned those Quigley spots…..but he is a very actor….just not at the box office.
      4. He has become a bigger star than his famous relatives….so I am sure they are happy….wherever they are.
      5. I think Mr. Clooney has lots of trend left on the tires…..but Hail Caesar took some off for sure….that was a meaningless movie.
      🙂

  3. How did George Clooney’s movie career last this long, when Hollywood never gave as much chance to Charlie Sheen, Michael J. Fox, Matthew Modine, Colin Farrell, Val Kilmer, Michael Keaton, Christian Slater, etc. at the box-office?

    1. Hey Why was George Clooney ever a movie star?…..well since I am not a huge Clooney fan I can not help you with that question. Of the ones you listed….at least Keaton seems to be back on the A list again. Slater is the King of Straight To DVD. Farrell has had some horrible luck at the box office….I think he just needs a big hit. Fox is the saddest of the bunch….who knows where his career would be if he was not sidetracked by illness. Kilmer had a nice run….I think he like Modine might be supporting actors for the rest of their careers. Thanks for stopping by.

  4. Hi

I wouldn’t be a huge fan of George Clooney, especially when he made fun of Charlton Heston’s dementia during the gun debate. But that aside, he is a huge star without doubt and has a huge list of movies to his credit. The Perfect Storm and Oh Brother Where Art Thou being my favourites.

    1. Hey Chris…..I am not a big fan of Clooney either. His treatment of Heston was pretty low and very mean spirited. Seems though that I have seen almost every movie he has made…I guess that is the power of a superstar….even if you are not a huge fan…..he can still draw you into his movies. My favorite Clooney movie is….The Thin Red Line….and he is only in that one about 3 minutes…..so I guess I do not have a favorite Clooney movie…..oh wait…Ocean’s Twelve….no that is only because of the hilarious cameo from Bruce Willis…..nope I will stick to the fact that I do not have a favorite Clooney movie.

  5. When I orginally wrote this page on HubPages a few years ago….this got lots of comments…sadly as I have moved to a different website provider I lost some of the comments. Somehow I managed to delete all the George Clooney comments….something I wish I could go back and correct.
