      1. It seemed to come from a LOT of movies with John Garfield! He always seemed to be complaining. But he was a good actor.

        1. Dont know what you ae talking about…complaining….John Garfield was a stage trained actor. A method actor…Terrific actor. I have watched all his movies for ove 40 years, and I have never thopught of him complaining in his movies!!!

          1. Hey Dennis….so do you know which movie that quote comes from? “Sure sure give everybody a break but me.

          2. What Garfield movie is this line from…very last line of the movie…”so long…sucker”?

          3. I do not know. And I even cheated by looking at the internet. My best guess is 1939’s They Made Me A Criminal….is that correct?

  1. One of my all time faves. “He Ran All The Way” is probably one of his best films , and sadly his final film.

    1. @Pax….He Ran All The Way got some good reviews….Top 10 of all his movies…but it got ignored at the box office…..but it sounds like a movie I might like…so I am adding it to my list of movies to watch…thank you.

    1. @Olin….When I was researching this page…..I came across a few of his movies that looked interesting. Between Two Worlds sounds like The Sixth Sense on a boat…..and Force of Evil…which might have been his last great role

    1. I got a request to do a page on him. I have seen 4 of his movies. And he had supporting roles in two of those movies…Destination Tokyo and Gentleman’s Agreement. So I pretty much agree with you about him. He pretty much took over for Cagney at Warners.

    2. I am replying late because I just found this page…If you dont see what people see in him then watch his movies. Garfield was a stage trained actor. The guy was just terrific. Warners miss used him puting him in inferior roles which is why he was on suspension so much. John Garfield was fantastic especially when he sould break away from Warnes. You have your opinion…but he is well thought og by many people!!! Including me!

      1. Hey Dennis. I have seen 4 more Garfield movies since writing that comment…I really enjoyed Body and Soul and Nobody Lives Forever. I was disappointed in the John Huston movie We Were Strangers. So since writing this page I have doubled my Garfield movie watching output. I still have not tracked down Between Two Worlds. So basically the more Garfield movies I watch the more I can see why people enjoy his work so much.

        1. Check out the Breaking Point…and He ran All the way….great Garfield performances…Body and Soul is one of the best boxing movies of all time!

    1. Working on Bill Murray…..then Montgomery Clift……Will Ferrell is fighting Seth Rogen for the third spot…..and Bob Hope is fighting Shirley Temple for the 4th spot.
