HI BRUCE: As always your feedback is appreciated.

Although I have never seen any film in either franchise, I used to confuse Underworld with Resident Evil. I was curious about how they compared with each other in your charts.

Your sources seem to be saying that Underworld is the slight winner regarding quality -51/% to just under 47% respectively.

However at the box office Resident Evil is the runaway victor if I have correctly added up the sums on your 2 pages:

    COGERSON ADJUSTED WORLDWIDE GROSSES:
RESIDENT EVIL [6 films] Grand total $1.482 billion [average $247 million].
UNDERWORLD [5 films] Grand total $680 million [average $136 million]

Indeed the only movie on Milla’s page that has a bigger worldwide total than ANY of her 6 Resident Evil flicks is Mr Gimme More’s 5th Element coming in at over half a billion worldwide– but, this being the Cogerson site, goodness knows what artificial padding has gone into 5th Element’s figure !!!!

Anyway a ‘victory’ for the male Gimme More is a happy note to end any post with on Cogerson!!! Keep safe.

HI BRUCE: Always the Stats Buff when given an opening, I meant to say in my previous post that not only was Resident Evil by far the more lucrative of the 2 franchises but Milla also beats Kate in the net worth battle according to Celeb Net Worth site: Milla $40 million; Kate $20 million.

However those earnings pale to insignificance almost when compared with the current net worth of each member of the old Team Gimme More: $250 million for Brucie and $150 million for his Boss.

All the foregoing are actual figures. Everything from here on has been inflation adjusted. The greatest Movie stars in the old days were very wealthy too and much was made of the fact that almost half of the $24 million adjusted budget for 1964’s Night of the Iguana Was taken up by the salaries of its 3 then-mega stars:

      Burton: $6 million
      Ava Gardner: $3,2 million
      Debs Kerr: $2 million
      TOTAL: $11.2 million.

Those were whopping salaries for their day; but they were a relative ‘pittance’ compared with what modern stars have been earning. For example (1) ole Gimme herself is reputed to have earned an adjusted $34 million for one of her movies in the 1990s (2) Cruise is have said to have earned an adjusted $110 million from the first Mission Impossible flick in 1996 and something similar for each of the succeeding ones.

I am reminded of the Tennis circuit in the 1980s when McEnroe and Lendl were both on the Players Committee. At one Committee meeting John proposed that the singles players should take slightly less in earnings so that more could be given to the doubles players; but Ivan refused to agree and Mac lost his temper and shouted at Lendl. “How much ******* money do you need?” [In even a recent TV documentary Mac swore in a way that would have made a McClane script look as if it had been lifted from a Bible text!]

Now back to actual earnings. McEnroe is said to have a current net worth of $100 million and Lendl $40 million. Princely sums, but I doubt that Gimme More if she had taken up a tennis career instead of films would have been interested in either player. She’d probably have had her sights set on Federer, with a reported net worth of $450 million!!

Kate Beckinsale, nice. Loved her as the vampire Selene in the Underworld series. Kate was born just a few miles from where I lived.

I’ve seen 14 of the 33 films on the chart. Favorites – the Underworld movies, Pearl Harbor, Van Helsing and The Aviator.

Looking at the box office chart – Pearl Harbor still her biggest hit. It’s been years since I last watched Michael Bay’s WWII classic. I have the directors cut on DVD which contains extra gore and I think trims some of the love scenes.

    Nice work Bruce. Vote Up!

Hey Steve…thanks for the visit and comment on our Kate Beckinsale page. Selene has a huge following…and I am sure…that following will eventually get a 6th Underground movie. I have seen 23 of her movies…so I am 9 ahead of your tally. I would put the sappy Serendipity and Click on my favorites list. I only recently saw Pearl Harbor. Hmmmm…I did not even know that Bay had a director’s cut of the movie. I need to re-watch The Aviator….been many years since I watched that one. Speaking of re-watching movies…I did that last night. The movie? A little known movie from the early 1930s…..King Kong…..maybe you have heard of that one?
