  1. HI STEVE:

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback; for the explanations of your scoring and of your video/stills history; as well as for the quotes you have provided.

For your quick scrutiny I herewith reproduce one of WH’s Possibly Interesting Facts above

“4. Colin Farrell’s acting idols are Al Pacino, Steve McQueen, Paul Newman, Clint Eastwood, James Caan and Marlon Brando.”

Notice there are none of the pre-1950 hollywood legends like Al Leach and The Duke in Colin’s list; and an Irishman who likes Brando – now have viewers ever come across one of THOSE before on this site?!!!

  2. I enjoyed the Farrell video to the tune of a basic personal satisfaction rating of 98% but added 0.2% because of my pleasure in seeing a fellow citizen of mine profiled – so overall rating 98.2%! You and The Big Boy agree on 2 of Colin’s Top 5 best reviewed movies: Minority Report and Crazy Heart. I applaud you for including In Bruges in your 5 and at No 2; but thumbs down to the WH for not including it in his 5.

BEST STILLS IN MY OPINION: There were gaps at times in the provision of stills but the 14 sets that I have selected across 11 separate entries are top notch.

    1/two for Alexander
    2/two for Daredevil
    3/Miami Vice
4/The Recruit – that one has a good surprise ending.
    5/Hart’s War
    6/Fright night
    7/Tigerland
    8/Saving Mr Banks
    9/Crazy Heart
    10/two for In Bruges
11/Minority Report – I forgot Colin was in that one.

20/3rd one for Minority Report – I never liked that film

    1. Hi Bob, thanks for the review, generous rating, info, trivia and quote, always appreciated. Glad you liked the posters and stills.

I did a box office video for Colin Farrell about 5 years ago, I only included 15 movies. There was a still for each film along with the poster. Back then every film I used in my box office videos had to be accompanied by a still from the film.

When I started on my ‘ratings’ videos stills were optional, poster art was the main attraction. One of the reasons was that the ratings videos were double the length of the box office videos and I wanted to keep the running time down.

The only film scoring 10 out of 10, from one of my sources, was Saving Mr. Banks. One film scored 9 – Minority Report and several scored 8 including In Bruges and Crazy Heart.

The Gentlemen tops IMDB charts followed by In Bruges, no.1 at Rotten Tomatoes is Minority Report with In Bruges at no.2.

“I work my arse off. I’m never late, ask anyone. I’m only 27. I don’t feel like a big star. I feel neither the pressure nor the grandeur of my situation, you know. I think I’m still trying to find my feet as an actor. And I know it ain’t brain surgery, but it confuses me and it comes between me and my sleep a lot.”

“I’m just a true Irish boy at heart. I’m just myself, I stick by my guns and I treat people the way I think they should be treated, regardless of their status. And I just have a laugh.”

Farrell on In Bruges – “When I read it, I said to Martin McDonagh, the director, “I don’t think you should hire me.” I said I come with a certain amount of baggage that has been well-earned through the years and this piece is so pure, I would love the audience to not have too much of a relationship with any of the actors. Thankfully, he didn’t listen to me.”
