    1. Hey Dan…thanks for the tally count. Let’s see….8 for you, 7 for Steve and 8 for me. I think all 8 of the ones I have seen are good….the only turkey for me at least is #10 The Weight of Water. Good feedback.

  1. Kathryn Bigelow, good director.

I’ve seen 7 of the 10 films on the chart, favorites are – Point Break, Strange Days, Near Dark, Zero Dark Thirty and The Hurt Locker.

I’ve also seen Blue Steel and K20 The Windowmaker.

hmm Zero Dark Thirty tops all the charts, I thought Hurt Locker was better.

    Nice work Bruce. Vote Up!

    1. Hey Steve. Thanks for checking out our latest page. Tally count: Dan and Cogerson at 8….Steve at 7. I have seen all of your favorites. I have not seen Blue Steel. I agree with you about The Hurt Locker…..Zero Dark Thirty is a good movie, but got a higher score for a much better box office run. The Hurt Locker had already been released to home entertainment when it found it’s following and Oscar glory. Good stuff as always.

  2. Katie Bigelow has a current net worth of $40 million and IMDB credits her with 85 acting awards and 64 nominations. I have seen 3 of the movies listed above -The Hurt Locker which is regarded as her classic [along with Zero Dark 30] Point Break and Blue Steel.

Oddly enough I was indifferent to Hurt Locker but loved both Point Break and Blue Steel even though WH gives the latter a less-than-good 56% rating and credits it with just an adjusted domestic gross of $19 million.

HE of course doesn’t get EVERYTHING right even when the general public seems to agree with him. I do my own thing or as The Duke would have expressed it “I ride my own horse!” [No pun intended].

Katie was a trailblazer for women as Bruce mentions in his lead-in above so this new page deserves a “Vote Up” in my view. She has no projects in the pipeline at present. She did though in 2014, announce plans to direct two movies: an adaptation of Anand Giridharadas’s non-fiction book The True American starring Tom Hardy and a feature based on the life of Bowe Bergdahl written by Mark Boal but as yet those projects are unrealized.

Bowe is a US soldier who was held captive from 2009-14 by the Taliban in Afghanistan and Pakistan. A reception was held for him in May 2014 in the Obama White House Rose Garden and President Trump in a tweet later referred to his case

    1. Hey Bob. Thanks for checking out our latest UMR page. Wow….tally counts from both you and Dan….not sure that has ever happened before. Tally Count: Dan, Cogerson at 8, Steve at 7 and you at 3. I have not seen Blue Steel….I have been aware of that one for a longtime. I am right there with you on Point Break….what a fun movie…and a movie that can be rewatched many times. Good information on her net worth and awards. As she gets close to 70 not sure if The True American will see the light of day….especially since IMDb does not even list it all. Interesting about Mark Boal….I have not heard about his story at all.
