UMR Movie Review of Knives Out

An enjoyable movie that could have been a great movie with a better third act. The first two acts of this movie are outstanding. The opening scenes give shout outs to other classic “who done it” movies. I especially liked the callbacks to 1972’s Sleuth. The acting is awesome across the board with Don Johnson, Chris Evans and Christopher Plummer shining the brightest in my eyes. On the negative side….I was not too impressed with the grand reveal….the theories in my mind were so much more complicated and better. Also….there is a plot device involving Ana De Armas that I found very dumb and juvenile…and it is used over and over….including in the grand finale! Final thought: An entertaining movie with a great cast….that could have been great.

  1. I had a few problems with a couple of things Ms. De Armas’s character did and also sort of with what is in the envelope that one character was handed by Mr. Plummer. It was okay otherwise.

    1. Hey Dan….thanks for the mini-review of Knives Out. Seems like we see that movie the same way. Great minds thinking alike. Good stuff.

  2. Looks interesting. Can’t help but think about Murder on the Orient Express when watching this trailer. I wonder if they all killed Mr. Plummer?

    1. Hey SteinHoF16…..thanks for checking out the Knives Out trailer. I can see you thinking they all did it….but I am thinking that would upset many people if they copied Dame Christie’s ending. Only time will tell. Thanks for the visit and the comment.
