  1. “His eyes! What have you done to his eyes?”, exclaims a shocked Rosemary Woodhouse allowed to see her baby for the first time.

“He has his father’s eyes”, replies one of the satanists calmly.

I’ve seen 7 of the 42 films on the chart, not impressive. Favorites are – Rosemary’s Baby, The Omen (2006), Supergirl and Death on the Nile.

Looking at the box office chart Rosemary’s Baby was a huge hit in the late 60’s paving the way for The Exorcist and The Omen. Hmm did I not write that same sentence just a few days ago? 🙂

I read Woody Allen’s book a few weeks ago and while Mia does get praised a lot for her acting and her looks, it does look like she’s more than a little bit nuts by the time the book has finished. But that’s Woody’s side of the story.

    Nice work Bruce. Vote Up!

    1. Hey Steve….yep you just wrote that line the other day…..come on….you can’t keep repeating the same stuff….lol. Ruth Gordon and now Mia Farrow….I wonder which other Rosemary’s Baby stars I can do next? Tally count: Cogerson 18, PhilHoF17 14 and you 7. I guess you have stayed clear of the Woody/Mia movies. I would recommend The Purple Rose of Cairo….a fun movie. Interesting about Mia in his book…I will have to check that one out. Good stuff as always.

  2. In her heyday, Mia Farrow was great at playing the young, shy, repressed American Anglo-Saxon, apparently just what Woody Allen was looking for in his movies, though my favorite Woody Allen leading lady is Diane Keaton. I have seen 14 of Farrow’s movies, including the oldest on the list, Guns of Batasi (a good one but very different from her later films). Favorites are Rosemary’s Baby, Crimes and Misdemeanours, Hannah and Her Sisters, and Another Woman). Shame her relationship with Woody turned so crazy at the end, given the importance of his movies to her career.

    1. Hey PhilHoF17……thanks for your thoughts on Mia Farrow. Tally count….14 for you…I have seen…counting…18 for sure…probably more….I get the Woody Allen movies mixed up….even though I am sure I have seen almost all of them. I had not even heard of Guns of Batasi before putting this page together. She actually got a Golden Globe for that one…as best Newcomer. They do not have that award anymore. Good to see you like Hannah and Her Sisters…..one of Michael Caine’s funnier roles. Good stuff as always.

    1. Hey Dan. Always good to see your lists. So she has a nice spot on the Oracle 1000. Higher than I would have guessed. She would probably grimace seeing Woody Allen attached to so many of her movies….and being her most frequent Oracle co-star. 30 Oscar winning co-stars…actually on the low side..but any list with Michael Caine is a good list…lol. Thanks for putting this together.

  4. Beyond Rosemary’s Baby and Great Gatsby Mia had no great box office career and for me her legacy rests on Rosemary’s Baby; her marriage to Sinatra; and her relationship with Woody Allen.

Woody put her in numerous of his movies and although they were not big financial earners they were for the most part artistically praised. The 13 that I have identified in the above tables have an average review rating of around 76.2% but an average adjusted US/Canada gross of only $28 million approx. with Hannah and Her Sisters being the only one of the 13 to exceed $42 million in adjusted domestic grosses.

Apart from Rosemary’s Baby my favorite among her films is See No Evil which was released over here as Blind Terror. As shown in the tables above her last movie was in 2011 and since then she has made just one screen appearance: as herself in a 2016 episode of the TV series Documentary Now [2015 – 2019 up to the present].

Overall she has been in 6 TV productions from 1963-2016; and has appeared in 14 stage productions from 1963-2014. She has no listed future projects in the pipeline at the moment; but seems very well-off financially as her reported net worth is $60 million. IMDB credits her with overall 8 acting awards and 23 nominations

    1. Hey Bob. Thanks for the thoughts on Mia Farrow. I agree with your thoughts of her Woody Allen movies. Critical darlings but not too impressive at the box office. Of those movies (excluding Hannah and Her Sisters) I really like Zelig and The Purple Rose of Cairo..those two movies earned a whooping $61 million…and that is adjusted and combined. I have actually seen See No Evil….it was at my local library (a quick pause…I miss my local library). A good thriller. Thanks for the further information on her net worth and television roles. Good stuff.

  5. “In the mid-1960s, when Mia Farrow’s romance and marriage to Frank Sinatra dominated the headlines, it seemed inevitable that she would become a big star. Sheilah Graham credited Farrow with the same talent and honesty as the young Audrey Hepburn. However, she lacked Hepburn’s variety; no matter what the role, she seemed fey and fragile. …….However, what she needs now is a movie more exciting than her publicity, meaty roles that will force her to abandon her old image. She may be finding just that under the smart direction of Woody Allen.”

    1. Back to back misses for Joel and the co-writers of Rating The Movies. While her movies with Woody Allen got her some critical acclaim……she is back in the publicity cycle of the 1960s. Granted the entire Woody/Mia conflict is not talked about as much these days…but it does come out pretty often.
