  1. Everybody loves shitting on Michael Bay and his movies (myself included) but the numbers don’t lie. Obviously people are repeatedly watching his movies and despite the critical drubbing his movies always get, the average moviegoer enjoys this type of movie.

  2. I must confess, I like Bay’s movies. Yes, he makes pop corn movies, but he makes it good. It’s not the case of any directors.
Ther are only two movie I ahven’t seen ; Pain and Gain and 13 Hours. My favorites are Rock, Armageddon and Transformers 3 (hush, it’s my secret).

    1. Hey Laurent…..thanks for bravely admitting you like Michael Bay movies…lol. I think it is safe to assume that you are not alone…..as his box office numbers are huge. I will say Transformers 3 was a lot better than Transformers 4. 10 Bay movies is a good tally count…thanks for the visit and the comment.

  3. Those are some incredible box office numbers. Sorry to say, but ; Armageddon is a horrible movie. Never understood why so many people love that one. Give me Deep Impact anyday.

    1. Hey SteinHOF….Armageddon is a guilty pleasure for me…..but I can easily see how some people might not like it….but in my world give me Armageddon any day over Deep Impact…lol. Deep Impact might be a better movie….but Armageddon is a fun movie to watch….just leave your brain at the door….:)

  4. A Michael Bay page eh well say what you will about him he is a very successful director, especially with the 4 Transformers movies he’s directed, the 5th one coming out this summer.

The only Bay film I haven’t seen is The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, my favorite Bay film is The Rock, other favorites – Armageddon, The Island and the Transformers series (noisy mindless action, excellent visual effects, guilty faves).

I’m not a big fan of the two Bad Boys films but I do have them on DVD. The spectacular 40 minute Japanese attack in Pearl Harbor will give your home theater a really good workout, the rest of the film – not so good.

Looking at the trivia – I didn’t know Bay and Nimoy were related in some way. That worldwide box office average is incredible, has any ever topped it? Spielberg? Lucas?

    1. Hey Steve…thanks for checking out my Michael Bay movie page. Statistically he is the man….at least on the box office side….and the Oscar side (I found that 58% of his movies are Oscar nominated movies pretty surprising). On the critic side things are not so happy for Bay. I think your description of his movies (noisy mindless action, excellent visual effects, guilty faves)…is pretty accurate. I would say my top 2 Bay movies are The Rock and Armageddon….with Armageddon in my re-watch rotation.

So you are at 11….that puts you in third place as Helakoski and myself have seen all 12. If you do not know history and you watched Pearl Harbor…you would think…Japan tried to attack….but were quickly defeated by Ben Affleck, Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Josh Hartnett…lol.

As for his average worldwide gross….James Cameron might have him beat….but he only had 8 movies….Spielberg is close…but too many non special effect movies in his resume….well….Bay’s movies seem to be popcorn movies only.

Good comment….and still good to see you back and commenting.

  5. Love how you prepared us for this page. Funny stuff. I might not like many of his movies but I always seem to go to the theater and pay top dollar to see them. I know you do tally counts so I will share mine. I have seen all of these movies. And I have seen 10 of them in theaters. So I feel I have helped turn him into the money making machine he is. I will not see Transformers 5. Tranformers 4 was horrible. He took my money that time.

    1. Hey Helakoski…glad to see comment on our current performer. I think 12 will be a very popular tally count. Mine is also 12….but I have only seen 2 of his movies in theaters….and they were both in the 1990s….Armageddon and The Rock….so I have been successfully avoiding his movies in theaters for almost 20 years now. I agree Transformers 4…or Transformers: Age of Extinction was one of the worst movies of 2014…yet it made over a billion bucks. Makes no sense to me. Glad you liked my silly drivel part of the page. Thanks for a great comment.
