  2. Added Steve’s McGregor video to this page. Our thoughts found on his channel found below.

Ewan McGregor, I like him. I would have thought he would have been a bigger star by now…not thinking that is going to happen now. I have seen 34 of the movies listed here and 42 in total. Favorites include #31 A Life Less Ordinary…a quirky but very fun movie to watch. #20 Perfect Sense….a virus movie that not many seem aware of…but I like it. #8 Moulin Rouge….one of my favorite musicals. #13 Doctor Sleep..I was surprised how much I liked this one. #6 Big Fish…gets me everytime I watch it…especially the final scenes. #2 Black Hawk Down…one of my all-time favorite movies. Good video. Voted up and shared

    1. Hi Bruce, yep you might just be a Ewan McGregor fan, 34 seen out of 42 is very good, I managed 20 and Flora, 4.

I liked Doctor Sleep too, better than I expected. It’s been a while since I last watched A Life Less Ordinary, Trainspotting, and Shallow Grave. I watched Black Hawk Down again fairly recently, the surround sound on the blu-ray is amazing.

Thanks for the comment, vote and share, always appreciated.

  3. HI STEVE: Good quotes as always. It’s always helpful to a thespian to get a quick start to a career but it’s how it progresses that counts. Mia Farrow for example had Rosemary’s Baby early on but could never again match that success.

The Great Mumbler had to wait 22 years to get his highest rated movie critically – The Godfather with 96% Cogerson rating and 100% UMR score – and historically it has virtually eclipsed everything else that he has ever done.  Ewan would need to make 21 Trainspotting films [which has a Cogerson adjusted domestic gross of $34 million] to match Godpop at the box office {Cogerson adjusted domestic gross $720 million].

That said Ewan’s career has developed very nicely overall up to now and one hopes that he doesn’t  start to  spoil matters by doing too much by way of Star Wars rip-offs. Those kinds of things are OK for Jace and  Stallone and The Rock who can’t act and are never going to do anything worthwhile artistically anyway; but I feel that Ewan has a lot more artistic potential in him if he’s wise enough to exploit it properly.  Please continue to kep safe.

  4. BEST STILLS EWAN’s VIDEO

    1/Beginners
    2/Dr Sleep
    3/Emma
    4/two for Moulin Rouge
    5/Revenge of the Sith
    6/Black Hawk Down
    7/Men Who Stare at Goats
    8/A Life Less ordinary
    9/Birds of Prey
    10/The Island
    11/Phantom Menace
    12/Black Hawk Down
    13/Trainspotting
    14/two for The Ghost Writer

ADDITIONAL TRIVIA:1/My personal satisfaction rating with the video  is 98%. You and Bruce agree on 4 of Ewan’s Top 6 Best reviewed.

2/Prime Minister Adam Lang [played by Pierce Brosnan]  in The Ghost Writer aka The Ghost is based on former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. The book was written by Robert Harris a one time supporter of Blair but they fell out over one of Blair’s policies or/and Tony’s mistreatment of a fellow cabinet member.

3/I saw Phantom Menace [the last Star Wars movie I ever watched] on the night of the 2001 British general election when Blair won his 2nd landslide victory.

    1. Hi Bob, thanks for reviewing my Ewan McGregor video, the generous rating, info and trivia are much appreciated. Happy you liked the picture gallery.

One of the first films he starred in, Trainspotting, is still his highest rated movie. That doesn’t always happen, Alan Ladd had to wait more than 10 years before his highest rated film was released. John Wayne, nearly 30 years until his top rated film was out.

The legend that is Jason Statham? I think his first movie is still his top rated. It is on my video. The classic example of course is Orson Welles with his first film, Citizen Kane. “I started at the top and worked my way down.”

Two films scored 10 out of 10 in Ewan’s oeuvre – Trainspotting and Shallow Grave.

Three films scored 9 out of 10 – Black Hawk Down, Big Fish and The Impossible.

There’s several scoring 8 including Star Wars III, Moulin Rouge and The Ghost Writer. Trainspotting tops all the charts including Bruce’s critics chart. Revenge of the Sith is no.1 on the UMR chart.

“My dad saw my full package in The Pillow Book (1996) and said “I’m glad to see you inherited one of my major attributes.”

“Nicole Kidman, Knickers, as I call her. I would swear, burp and fart in front of her. I’d try and embarrass her and she would pretend to be shocked. I always played up on that. It was a real elder sister-younger brother relationship.”

“Isn’t Halle Berry the most beautiful woman? I have a film I’d like to be in her with. I mean, I’d like to be with her in” (At the 2002 Golden Globe Awards commenting to Melissa Rivers on Halle Berry, who just walked by.)
