Neil Simon Movies

Neil Simon (1927-2018) was a 4-time Oscar®-nominated American  playwright, screenwriter and author.  He wrote more than 30 plays and nearly the same number of movie screenplays, mostly adaptations of his plays.  He received more combined Oscar® and Tony® nominations than any other writer. His IMDb page shows 101 writing credits from 1948 to 1997.  This page ranks 30 of his movies.  His many televison credits were not included in the rankings. Sadly this page was done after learning of his passing.  Rest in peace Neil Simon.

Hey Dan…..I have checked on many different devices…and I am not seeing that error. WoC says it might be a hosting issue but would be impossible to track down…..hopefully it will not be there if you attempt it again.

    HI FLORA

Sadly my own tribute to Neil is just another one of my posts that the guy whom I regard as my teacher on this site never gotten around to because he’s away teaching others.

However I don’t feel too bad about it because I see from Steve’s frantic campaign on your behalf that “Teach” has been giving you too the brush off so I feel that I’m in the best company that I could be in on this site.

Like calling our lord and master Teach occasionally because as I’m sure that you know that was our Glenn’s nickname in Blackboard Jungle, the movie that made him a star.

Your comment has been responded to Bob…..trying my best….to get new material out…and comment back…..I think with my comments quickly reaching 15,000 I respond to most of the comments.

I like the nickname Teach. Actually it makes me want to share what happens in the class. My last name is Rogers….so growing up…I heard a ton of jokes about….”It’s A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” and Won’t You Be My Neighbor”. Now that I am older and wiser……my kids like to sing a song to me. In this area….there is a local company called…Mr. Rogers Windows…..they have a catchy tune…..That goes “Mr. Rogers Windows”…..that is the song they sing to me. So of those nicknames give me Teach any day…..lol.

        HI BRUCE

        Know what you mean.

My name is as you know Bob Roy. so obviously I got Rob Roy McGregor, the name of the famous Highland Rogue played by Liam Neeson. Everyone who said it thought they had been the first to discover the joke.

I’ve mentioned how most people who met Dalton of Road House for the first time said “I thought you’d be bigger,” and he would ultimately retort “Gee where have I heard that before?” Well I said that before Dalton!

My wife’s name is Jessie so I’m sure that you being in the land where the Wild West was and also being a movie buff can guess what her nickname was! .

By the way if you look at the cast lists and posters for Red Dawn 1984 you will see that Patrick gets first billing. You know my unbending rule that the one who is billed first is the star and I don’t care whether Myrna has twice as long a part!

That’s why I agree with Sandra ‘s agent that Hanks has to carry the can for their flop outing together Extremely Loud/Incredibly Close !!!

Hey Rob Roy….good information on your name and Swayze’s billing on Red Dawn….we will have to continue to disagree on that pesky “only top billed” star rule you have. So you are married to Jessie James….cool! Good feedback.

Hey Flora….thanks for sharing this information on the TCM tribute to Neil Simon….I have seen all of these movies…..I think Lost in Yonkers is a good movie that almost nobody even remembers. A re-union between Dreyfuss and Simon.

Thank you SteinHoF16…..I think many people got them mixed. At one point on Sunday….Paul Simon was the top trending person on Yahoo…..I am guessing people heard Neil Simon passed away…and when they went to read about him….they typed in Paul Simon instead. Just my thought. RIP Mr. Neil Simon.
