  1. Watched Peggy Ashcroft as Mrs. Moore recently in David Lean’s A Passage to India, a favorite of mine. Also a favorite is Hitchcock’s The 39 Steps featuring a young Peggy helping Richard Hannay escape the police.

Those are the only two I’ve seen from the 13 on the chart.

    Good stuff Bruce. Vote Up!

    1. Hey Steve….thanks for the thoughts on Dame Peggy. None of the tally counts has been impressive. Seems it is 39 Steps and A Passage To India for all of us. Good stuff as always.

  2. A week ago we saw The Marksman at the Glen Cove cinema and there were 8 people at it. That was the biggest audience I’d seen since the cinemas reopened in the non New York City parts of the state. Today we saw The Little Things with Denzell Washington at the Bellmore Playhouse, 2 PM showing and there was 17 people there. 17, wooah. The restaurants are reopening again in the city, of course at 25% capacity on Valentine’s day.

I digress we’re doing Dame Peggy. None of the supporting actresses you posted today were ever on the Oracle of 1000, well I think one was but it’s not Peggy. Actors on the 2020 list she appeared with are as follows.

18 JOHN GIELGUD Joseph Andrews (1977)
23 ROD STEIGER Three Into Two Won’t Go (1969)
55 JOHN MILLS When the Wind Blows (1986)
60 MICHAEL HORDERN Joseph Andrews (1977)

    1. Hey Dan
      1. Good information on how things are going in the Big Apple.
      2. So Denzel, Jared and Rami got people in the theater….very good.
      3. Of course….one has to ask….how was The Little Things?
      4. So Vernon Dobtcheff is the most frequent Oracle co-star….almost looks like a fake name….lol.
      5. I bet Joseph Andrews got you to the theater because of the cast…some great character actors in Gielgud and Griffith.
      6. 17 is not too bad of a Oscar winning co-stars when you realize she did not make that many movies.
      Good stuff as always.

      1. The Little Things was meh. People couldn’t make up their minds at what the ending was (it was pretty obvious). Rami Malek looks like a 1 film wonder, his performance was a non attempt at acting. Denzel Washington seem bored, like he was collecting a paycheck or maybe he just wanted to do laundry. The only decent performance was by Jared Leto.

  3. I have seen 4 Peggy Ashcroft films.

    Favourite Peggy Ashcroft Movies:

    The Nun’ Story
    The 39 Steps

Other Peggy Ashcroft Movies I Have Seen:

    A Passage To India
    Sunday, Bloody Sunday

    1. Hey Flora. Thanks for the thoughts on Dame Peggy Ashcroft. I have seen 3 of her movies. All 3 are among the 4 you have seen. I have not seen Sunday, Bloody Sunday. I did not like The Nun’s Story very much….very very long. The 39 Steps is one of Hitch’s first classics….in my opinion. Good stuff as always.
