Requests

requests1

Thankfully we get lots of requests for new pages.  Well…the wife recently informed me that my way of collecting my requests was pretty weak.  She seems to think that writing down requests on whatever piece of paper or napkin or bill that is currently on my desk is not the way to do it.  So….since she is way smarter than me….I have decided to create a page just for requests.  Plus it should give a good idea of what pages are coming down the pike.

My logic in picking which page to do next….I lean heavily towards the subject that has the most requests.

  • Roger Corman – request by Dan
  • Peter Cushing – request made by SteveLensman, Dan & Brando 90
  • Disney Live Action 1967-1980 – request by Mimic
  • Foreign Movies requested by Laurent
  • Samuel Goldwyn – request by Dan
  • Sam Katzman – request by Dan
  • Fritz Lang – request by Lupino, Just Me
  • Bruce Lee – request by Brando 90
  • Harold Lloyd – request by Søren, Me
  • Henry Mancini – request by Flora
  • Patricia Medina – request by Dan
  • Mirisch Brothers – request by Dan
  • Edward Small – request by Dan
  • Rudolph Valentino – request by Laurent

Completed requests:

Many more to come…have to find all of my old napkins and transfer the requests to this page.

  1. In regards to themed/category pages, how about a film noir page? You must have a huge number of them in your database already.

    Flora

    1. Sound like it could be interesting. I will have to find a book that lists all the film noir movies. And you are 100%…I imagine my database has many of these movies already ready to go…thanks for the suggestion. I will add it to the list.

  2. You have already done 4 of the 6 actress/dancers who danced with both Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly. How about completing the exclusive group with Vera Ellen and Cyd Charisse?

    Flora

    1. Hey Flora….I will add them to the list….I think Cyd Charisse would make a fine addition…not so sure about Vera Ellen….then again that could be my ignorance of her career. Thanks for the suggestions.

  3. Weird 2 here. I was watching a 4 short collection starring Lupino Lane who is probably pretty forgotten. His niece was Ida Lupino. Anyway of the 4 shorts, he directed one, Fatty Arbuckle directed 1 and then the other 2 get interesting. One is by Mark Sandrich and you’ve done work on some of his films. He died in 1946 while directing Blue Skies with Fred Astaire and Bing Crosby. He directed 5 of the Fred Astaire-Ginger Rogers films plus Holiday Inn with Bing Crosby. The other short is directed by Norman Taurug who started in 1920. In 1931 Norman was the youngest Oscar winning best director winner at 32 for Skippy starring his nephew Jackie Cooper. He directed 6 Dean Martin – Jerry Lewis epics along with 2 of Jerry solo films. He directed 9 (!!) Elvis Presley films along with Boys Town with Spencer Tracy (Oscar winning performance), 1 Broadway Melody film (1940), 1 Big Broadcast film (1936) and a lot of other MGM hits of the 40’s. Might be interesting; I think by what I’ve seen of your lists you probably have done the work on 80% of their features.

    1. Hey Dan….thanks for the information of Lupino Lane. I will add him to the list. Based on your comment..you might be right…80% of the work might already be done. Elvis and Spencer Tracy…that is a pretty impressive. Thanks for the suggestion. It is added to the list.

    1. I will add your name to the request page. I am currently reading The Lost One: A Life of Peter Lorre….over 600 pages….and barely do they mention the words….box office….so disappointing.

    1. Will add them. Randolph Scott should be coming soon….the man was a very busy actor…over 100 movies. Thanks for the suggestions.

      1. Hey Bob…..I am doing this “why am I wasting time doing this exercise” and I found this comment…..I am thinking Laurent and you are kindred spirits. And today I we heard from Laurent for the first time in awhile.
