Requests

requests1

Thankfully we get lots of requests for new pages.  Well…the wife recently informed me that my way of collecting my requests was pretty weak.  She seems to think that writing down requests on whatever piece of paper or napkin or bill that is currently on my desk is not the way to do it.  So….since she is way smarter than me….I have decided to create a page just for requests.  Plus it should give a good idea of what pages are coming down the pike.

My logic in picking which page to do next….I lean heavily towards the subject that has the most requests.

  • Roger Corman – request by Dan
  • Peter Cushing – request made by SteveLensman, Dan & Brando 90
  • Disney Live Action 1967-1980 – request by Mimic
  • Foreign Movies requested by Laurent
  • Samuel Goldwyn – request by Dan
  • Sam Katzman – request by Dan
  • Fritz Lang – request by Lupino, Just Me
  • Bruce Lee – request by Brando 90
  • Harold Lloyd – request by Søren, Me
  • Henry Mancini – request by Flora
  • Patricia Medina – request by Dan
  • Mirisch Brothers – request by Dan
  • Edward Small – request by Dan
  • Rudolph Valentino – request by Laurent

Completed requests:

Many more to come…have to find all of my old napkins and transfer the requests to this page.

    1. Hey Mike good suggestions. I can see doing Martin Short first. Not thinking Myers and Carvey have many movies in their resume.

Got a question. I was looking at the box office numbers you posted for the 1940s. Are those totals the complete estimated box office or just the total for the “big cities” that Variety posts? In other words do I need to include the “other cities” or are they in the estimate you posted? Once again…thanks for researching those numbers.

      1. Hi Mr. Cogerson,

They are from the top cities box office estimates that range from 20 to 28 different cities.

Mike Myers has done Waynes World 1 & 2, Austin Powers 1 thru 3 and all the Shrek movies.

        My Current Project-
I am doing the entire 1932 movies box office estimates for all movies.

I want to see if the what percentage of the box office gross in Variety is versus the box office grosses in the Eddie Mannix Ledger, William Schaffer and others.

Maybe come upon with a formula that can be used to estimate all the early grosses from all the major studios in the early days

So far I have seen 40 % to 80 % percent because each studio ledgers information is unique to that studio
        .

        1. Mike, very impressive even for a smart guy like you. i live in san antonio and we are experiencing record lows with a foot of snow on the ground. a once every 2-3 decade event for us. i had no computer for 48 hours and no power for 18 hours. 50 degrees inside. i really missed you and all the great UMR comments.

          1. Hey bob cox….sorry the snow storm has caused you such many problems. We have had some horrible weather here in Virginia as well….nothing as bad as yours….but rainy cold days for almost 2 weeks in a row. Good to hear from you.

    1. Peter Sellers was not in Our Man in Havana. John may be thinking of his occasional co-star, Alec Guinness who starred in the movie.

    2. John Campion, very observant. way to keep Cogerson on his toes. if only i had a nickel for every time he gently and lovingly let me know i was wrong. keep up the good work.

    1. Hey Mike… I looked at both Meighan and Gilbert last night….wow…that is going back. Both made a ton of movies in the 1910s. I have so little box office for that era….hell…does anybody? Granted I used to feel that way about the 1930s and 1920s…..so maybe some sources will be uncovered. I can see doing a Gilbert page in the near future….with the exclusion of his early silent movies. Thanks for the suggestions. Glad you like the books…..a third one is in my head as well….just need the time to crank it out. Good stuff as always.

  1. Thank you to all of you for allowing me to be a member of the HoF.
Thanks to WoC for making it.
I am looking forward to many more years to come and for other future HoF’s.

Mr C, I see you may leave the world of the Internet.

You must not go, you have done to much to allow this to happen.
The countless hours of travel, variety magazines and what other sources of info you had to find
    to get the data.
You still have so much more to do yet.
I have been working on more data for the website and 1946 is abut to finish, where will I send it?
Look to Joel H, WoC, myself and many others who want you to to stay.

Please reconsider, because your website is one of a kind, no one has all this data.

Plus it is source of unique excitement, knowledge, and most of all friendship.

Also I am now reading the second book you sent,

    thanks again

    1. Hey Mike.
      1. We will take that as your acceptance speech into the UMR Hall of Fame.
      2. When Stein got into the Hall of Fame….he changed his name to SteinHoF16…..so far only Phil has followed his lead….as he goes by PhilHoF17……..I am sure SteinHoF16 is hoping you will start being Mike HoF20……though WoC is staying WoC. Apparently….this is what Hall of Famers do when the sign autographs……put HoF and the year they went in.
      3. As for UMR leaving….as I was feeling sorry for myself….WoC renewed our contract with our webhost provider…..so we will be moving forward.
      4. I am sure I would have done the same thing myself….she knows me so well…..as she said…my hobby though costly in time and money is not nearly as costly as some of her hobbies.
      5. Added benefit….the increased views….has made us eligible for some revenue streams that were previously unavailable……working through that currently.
      6. Thanks for all the kind words…..and glad the second book arrived.
      Good stuff as always.
