Requests

requests1

Thankfully we get lots of requests for new pages.  Well…the wife recently informed me that my way of collecting my requests was pretty weak.  She seems to think that writing down requests on whatever piece of paper or napkin or bill that is currently on my desk is not the way to do it.  So….since she is way smarter than me….I have decided to create a page just for requests.  Plus it should give a good idea of what pages are coming down the pike.

My logic in picking which page to do next….I lean heavily towards the subject that has the most requests.

  • Roger Corman – request by Dan
  • Peter Cushing – request made by SteveLensman, Dan & Brando 90
  • Disney Live Action 1967-1980 – request by Mimic
  • Foreign Movies requested by Laurent
  • Samuel Goldwyn – request by Dan
  • Sam Katzman – request by Dan
  • Fritz Lang – request by Lupino, Just Me
  • Bruce Lee – request by Brando 90
  • Harold Lloyd – request by Søren, Me
  • Henry Mancini – request by Flora
  • Patricia Medina – request by Dan
  • Mirisch Brothers – request by Dan
  • Edward Small – request by Dan
  • Rudolph Valentino – request by Laurent

Completed requests:

Many more to come…have to find all of my old napkins and transfer the requests to this page.

  1. Since you like to focus on requests even for current day performers, how about Rory Cochrane. I am a big fan of his.

    Flora

    1. Hey Flora…. I will add Rory Cochrane to the list of requests….Alan Ladd will be the next person to get a page.

  2. Hi

What about doing a page on a list of people’s favourite movies? Or lists of musicals and Westerns?
Also Director, George Cukor and actress Greer Garson.
    Thanks

    1. Hey Chris I will add…..Cukor, Garson, Westerns and Musicals to the list of request. As for people’s favorite movies…not sure I know what you mean. I guess I could do a page that requested favorite movies…..and then do a table on the ones people suggested….Steve Lensman would name Ben-Hur..and thus secure a Top 10 spot. Thanks for the suggestions.

        1. Hey Flora….I will add your name to those 3 requests.

Saw Deadpool this afternoon….and during the credits…I read an interesting tidbit. The producers wanted to thank 20th Century for the use of the movie poster The Gunfighter. I did not see the poster while watching the movie…but I will be keeping an eye open for that movie poster the next time I watch that movie. So Gregory Peck in a small way is in Deadpool…a movie breaking box office records in 2016. Needless to say when I saw that….I thought of you.

          1. Hey Flora…..it is a very different comic book superhero movie…well deserving of its R rating.

  3. Bruce:

How many of the requested classic names -general percentage, say- do you already have over 80% of them in your database already because of their co-stars?

Based upon that and classic year pages, these can be your classic era focus.

I would like to add the year 1976 as a request. A friend of mine asked me what movies were made the year I was born, and after naming a couple of them, I couldn’t recall. It would be interesting to know how many I have seen.

I know that All the President’s Men was made that year.

    1. Hey Flora…I would say close to 100% of them are already in the database…just some of them their tally counts are very small…Peter Cushing is in there 8 times….but he made over 100 movies. Meanwhile George C. Scott is in there 18 times out of roughly 35 movies. I appreciate the suggestion.

I have added 1976 to the request…I will make sure I do that year next when I do another year page..as always thanks for the visit, the comment and the input.

  4. So….which page are you working on next in terms of new pages rather than revamped pages as well as which revamped pages you will feature when they are done?

Just wondering if the next page will be one where I am familiar with the artist/theme etc.

    Flora

    1. Hey Flora…not 100% sure….being a Denver Bronco fan….all of my spare time has been on the highs of their Super Bowl win last night….floating on cloud 9…..movies have “gasp” taken a back seat to football.

Looking at the request list…Richard Burton might be a fairly easy one to do….since I think I already have a good % of his movies in the database. Then again….the last page was on a classic…which would mean Seth Rogen or Drew Barrymore (both have been on the list a very longtime) might be next.

      1. Since you are distracted by football – never a problem for me – you might want to focus on one where you pretty much have all the data regardless o the era.

I think I have seen only one Seth Rogan – and no, it is not the one that caused the controversy.

As for Drew Barrymore, I haven’t seen much of her actual career, but because of my love of the Barrymore family, I would still have plenty to say on the page.

        1. Hey Flora….it will be Richard Burton….have a few more movies to find…and then I want to update my Elizabeth Taylor page…so the numbers will match…30% chance I can get both done tonight….if not it will be first thing in the morning.

          1. Sounds like fun.

While you are in this time period of changing your formula, may I suggest to you that you focus on subjects that personally interest you in terms o f learning about the people or finding out what movies you want to see, regardless of how many requests that page has or how long it has been waiting.

Keep in mind that some people come to your pages for research and some people come for fun. Do not pick a subject where the thread may become overwhelmed with current events posts unless you want to talk about them. As you can likely tell on the TCM forum, even people who enjoy watching political things are tired of the threads being taken over by politics when the title of thread is not political.
