Requests

requests1

Thankfully we get lots of requests for new pages.  Well…the wife recently informed me that my way of collecting my requests was pretty weak.  She seems to think that writing down requests on whatever piece of paper or napkin or bill that is currently on my desk is not the way to do it.  So….since she is way smarter than me….I have decided to create a page just for requests.  Plus it should give a good idea of what pages are coming down the pike.

My logic in picking which page to do next….I lean heavily towards the subject that has the most requests.

  • Roger Corman – request by Dan
  • Peter Cushing – request made by SteveLensman, Dan & Brando 90
  • Disney Live Action 1967-1980 – request by Mimic
  • Foreign Movies requested by Laurent
  • Samuel Goldwyn – request by Dan
  • Sam Katzman – request by Dan
  • Fritz Lang – request by Lupino, Just Me
  • Bruce Lee – request by Brando 90
  • Harold Lloyd – request by Søren, Me
  • Henry Mancini – request by Flora
  • Patricia Medina – request by Dan
  • Mirisch Brothers – request by Dan
  • Edward Small – request by Dan
  • Rudolph Valentino – request by Laurent

Completed requests:

Many more to come…have to find all of my old napkins and transfer the requests to this page.

  1. Hi Mr. Cogerson
In keeping with the Howard family Ron and Bryce we must not forget Uncle and younger brother Clint Howard.
I request Clint with his 253 IMDB credits as the next nominee.
    THX

    1. Hey Mike….I actually have Clint’s signature hanging up on my autograph wall. Clint and Bella Thorne are the only two on the wall without UMR pages….I need to fix that…..I will say all of Clint’s low budget fare has made me somewhat apprehensive in doing just that. But, pushed by your suggestion…you can look for a Clint page in the future. Thanks for the suggestion.

  2. Hi Mr. Cogerson,

Would you be interested in “Reissue” Box Office data on some of the most popular movies
that were used during the 1940s thru 1950s?
Some of the data on the movies was quite significant.

    Please advise

    1. Hey Mike…absolutely. Any box office information you have researched is greatly appreciated. Thus you have two or three pages on UMR that are 100% you. So bring it on.

FYI – So….you and Taylor are the only UMR Hall of Famers without an interview….let me know if you are interested in knocking that out.

      1. What pages?
I did not even know that.
What do I sure for to find them?
I will please let you know about that interview at a later da

        THX

  3. Hi Mr. Cogerson,

Hope all is well with you, the family and the Website.

I am doing the years 1950 thru 1952 which includes top ranked movies(which most you all ready have), lower level movies and the countless Reissue box office numbers.

I have come up with my own multiple formula for finding the estimated box office data for most of the lower level movies and others at the domestic level so far. The overseas formula I have also, but to see if all others did go overseas is very pain stacking, but can be done.

Just wondering if you would be interested.

    thx

    1. Of course….I love formulas when calculating box office grosses. I can imagine the overseas totals would be difficult. Lower level movies are probably the weak point on UMR. As I put together the current lists I have noticed limited release movies are pretty common…so they make the page. When looking at the older yearly reviews…it pretty much just features the movies that got wide releases and ignores the small movies.

  4. Hi Mr. Cogerson,

Question- Is the1950 domestic B.O. data true and stands alone or does it include international data also?

    Thx

    1. Hey Mike HoF2020……as best as we calculate it is a stand alone “adjusted domestic box office gross”. Of course….it is a “best guess” total. We only having worldwide box office on about 15% of the 1950 movies. Hope all is going well.

      1. Thx.
I am doing the 1950s for box office data.
I found a area that has overseas box office data.
Will review this to see if it fruitful.
By the way I plan a trip out Virginia way next year to visit friends Williams Port, Maryland and Hagerstown, Maryland anywhere near you?

      2. FYI
One interesting article I read in a column done in 1950 was that actors and actresses were “System Controlled Actors”.
You got what they decided to use.
That starting with the year 1950 in general all actors had to find the work by whatever means available.
Makes you wonder sometimes how the actors would have fared in the years 1920-thru the late 1940s would done and how the rankings would have changed by the later standard.
I guess we will never know.

  5. Question to all great movie buffs:

What time length would a A movie be, a B movie and if there is a C movie be?

    Thank you

    1. Hey Anon….not sure I understand what you are asking? If we are talking about film lengths….I suspect the smaller the budget the shorter a movie MIGHT be.

      1. So maybe it is the money you invest in a movie, not the actor that really classifies a low budget B movie versus a high budget A movie.
So if you had top notch actors in a low budget B movie It would not be considered a A movie because of the level of actor?
So my question was what is a A movie and a B movie? I guess the answer is the time and budget not the actor. Maybe?
