Requests

requests1

Thankfully we get lots of requests for new pages.  Well…the wife recently informed me that my way of collecting my requests was pretty weak.  She seems to think that writing down requests on whatever piece of paper or napkin or bill that is currently on my desk is not the way to do it.  So….since she is way smarter than me….I have decided to create a page just for requests.  Plus it should give a good idea of what pages are coming down the pike.

My logic in picking which page to do next….I lean heavily towards the subject that has the most requests.

  • Roger Corman – request by Dan
  • Peter Cushing – request made by SteveLensman, Dan & Brando 90
  • Disney Live Action 1967-1980 – request by Mimic
  • Foreign Movies requested by Laurent
  • Samuel Goldwyn – request by Dan
  • Sam Katzman – request by Dan
  • Fritz Lang – request by Lupino, Just Me
  • Bruce Lee – request by Brando 90
  • Harold Lloyd – request by Søren, Me
  • Henry Mancini – request by Flora
  • Patricia Medina – request by Dan
  • Mirisch Brothers – request by Dan
  • Edward Small – request by Dan
  • Rudolph Valentino – request by Laurent

Completed requests:

Many more to come…have to find all of my old napkins and transfer the requests to this page.

    1. Hey Brando 90….I have looked into the Charlie Chan movies….but I can only find box office information on one of those movies. Maybe one day I will discover a lost treasure and get a Chan page done. Until then I will add it to the list above. Thanks for the suggestion.

    1. Hey Lyle…..you were right….she was not on the list when you first commented. I saw your comment….and when I was adding Elia Kazan to the page….I put Jean Arthur back on the list.

  1. Hello Bruce. I just noticed that Jean Arthur is no longer on the request list. Did you give up? The Fred MacMurray page gave me another film on my Jean Arthur Film Box Office Page in 1940’s “TOO MANY HUSBANDS”. I have box office information on all of her 1940’s films except 1944’s “THE IMPATIENT YEARS” and the domestic rentals on 1941’s “THE DEVIL AND MISS JONES”, which I have worldwide rentals of $1,421,000.

    1. Hey Lyle….I have looked at doing a page on Arthur…but I keep running into box office roadblocks. Currently I only have 14 of her 97 IMDb credits in my database. Every time I checked her movies I pretty much end up with nothing. For The Impatient Years the budget was $600,000. If the worldwide rentals for The Devil and Miss Jones is $1,421,000…then I think it is pretty safe to assume the domestic total is between $850,000 and $925,000. Usually the domestic is between 60 and 65% of the worldwide total. I am sure in the near future I will release the numbers I do have for her…..but a 40 or 50 movie page is probably not going to happen….unless some source gets found in an attic somewhere. Thanks for the noticing Jean Arthur was not on the list.

  2. Hi I have a question. This link http://www.imdb.com/list/ls000067202/ shows the Quigley top 200 money-making stars of all time, and the list goes up to people like Depp, DeCaprio, Cruise etc.

Okay, I was just looking at your 100 million list and noticed that Errol Flynn is higher than Tyrone Power, who on the Quigley list is 77. Yet Errol is nowhere in the top 200 according to Quigley. That is just one example, I haven’t gone through the others. So obviously things have been figured differently and I was just wondering what the difference is. I realize you haven’t done all the stars but that isn’t going to change Errol being higher than Tyrone.

    1. Hey Joan. Good question. Pretty sure Quigley lists their movies by times the star appeared in their annual list not on a combined box office total. Pre-1980 that information was not even available. John Wayne was the king of that list. Leonardo at 36th makes the least amount of sense. Yes he has had some big hits….but he has only made 25 movies….and they have only grossed 135 million….that is just over 3.3 billion…a stout number but certainly not 35th best of all time.

My lists are the combined total. I am currently in the process of updating my pages….for the new average ticket prices and a new way to calculate adjusted box office. Sadly I am only about 30% done with the update. So some of my pages have do not have my current movie grosses.
I have updated Errol Flynn….but not Tyrone Power. So right now Flynn is in 28th with my new calculations…while Power is 54th using the older calculations. Using my new better calculation Power would be 10th…with just over $7 billion. Obviously that will drop as I continue to update the classic stars.

One of the things we are working on this page is trying to make it a dynamic website…that way the changes would occur automatically….rather than the current way that requires me to manually updated every single page…and with close to 400 pages…it takes a little bit of time.

I will however update Mr. Power later today. Hope that answers your question.

        1. Glad you found the update. Power had an excellent career….pretty every movie he made was pretty successful at the box office. That million dollar movie page showed be very entertaining when we get all of these performers updated.

  3. Sorry new to this page. I just requested Loretta Young and Dana Andrews on your link page. Now I see this page and see Andrews is already requested.

    1. No problem Stein. I have added Loretta Young to the request list….and included your name with the Dana Andrews request. Happy to see somebody new moving around our website…hope to see you in the future.

      1. And right now Mr. Peter Cushings has that honor….but I am having almost no luck with him. His Hammer movies are almost impossible to find. I am thinking the executives that ran Paramount trained them….lol.
