Requests

requests1

Thankfully we get lots of requests for new pages.  Well…the wife recently informed me that my way of collecting my requests was pretty weak.  She seems to think that writing down requests on whatever piece of paper or napkin or bill that is currently on my desk is not the way to do it.  So….since she is way smarter than me….I have decided to create a page just for requests.  Plus it should give a good idea of what pages are coming down the pike.

My logic in picking which page to do next….I lean heavily towards the subject that has the most requests.

  • Roger Corman – request by Dan
  • Peter Cushing – request made by SteveLensman, Dan & Brando 90
  • Disney Live Action 1967-1980 – request by Mimic
  • Foreign Movies requested by Laurent
  • Samuel Goldwyn – request by Dan
  • Sam Katzman – request by Dan
  • Fritz Lang – request by Lupino, Just Me
  • Bruce Lee – request by Brando 90
  • Harold Lloyd – request by Søren, Me
  • Henry Mancini – request by Flora
  • Patricia Medina – request by Dan
  • Mirisch Brothers – request by Dan
  • Edward Small – request by Dan
  • Rudolph Valentino – request by Laurent

Completed requests:

Many more to come…have to find all of my old napkins and transfer the requests to this page.

  1. Hi

That is some list! And I’ve just thought of a few more.

Kevin Costner, Warren Beatty and Boris Karloff.

Thanks for all the effort you put in.

    1. Hey Chris….yep the list is scary at times….but I will put Costner, Karloff and Beatty on the list….I have gotten Costner and Karloff before…..I will have to spend some time tomorrow on this page and straighten things up.

  2. HAVE YOU DONE STERLING HAYDEN YET? So Big was on TV this week and he was in that movie at the beginning playing Jane Wyman’s husband. He made quite a few movies…..

  3. Hello Bruce, Thanks for the Box office information on “Duck You Sucker”. I’m looking forward to the Lee Marvin page.

    1. Depending on the craziness of the weekend….Lee should be seeing the light of day either later today or tomorrow.

  4. Hello Bruce.
Thanks for putting Anthony Quinn on your list. I think it’s great that your doing a Lee Marvin page next. I have always wonder just how badly 1970’s “Monte Walsh” had flopped. One of my favorite Lee Marvin films which didn’t do well at the box office like so many westerns of the 1970’s. One of my favorite westerns of this period also flopped, Sergio Leone’s 1971 film “Duck You Sucker”, but I’ve never heard any box office information on it either. Thanks Again.

    1. Hey Lyle….as I go through my papers and notebooks….I am realizing my wife was 100% correct…my system to file requests was very poor. But it is fixed now with this page. I have all 46 Marvin movies ready to go….Monte Walsh finished 13th on the critic audience column…it is way down the list when looking at the box office column…around 33rd place there.

I can help you with Duck You Sucker….when it finally got to North America…the movie was called A Fistful of Dynamite. It was the 60th biggest hit of 1972….with box office rentals of 2.0 million…which is about $4.4 million in gross and about $21.9 million in adjusted 2015 ticket sales….that’s about Johnny Depp’s bomb last year (Transcedence) earned.

  5. Hello Bruce,
I have already requested Anthony Quinn. I actually have a lot of box office information on a lot of Quinn’s early film’s from the 1930’s and 1940’s. It’s the late fifties and mid to late sixties films I have no information on. Films Like “A High Wind in Jamaica” (1965)
“The 25th Hour” (1967), “The Happening” (1967), “Guns for San Sebastian” (1968),
“The Shoes of the Fisherman” (1968). I am a fan of these films simply because they
star Anthony Quinn. I grew up watching these films.

    1. Hey Lyle…I have put your Anthony Quinn on the list above. I did a quick check in my Variety magazines….and I have nothing for any of the movies you listed. Looking at IMDb….it looks many of those movies got released in New York City…..not sure if they got released any wider than that. I did find Quinn’s The Magus. The Magus was the 86th biggest hit of 1969…with box office rentals of 1.0 million. Also I have Zorba the Greek as the 24th biggest hit of 1965 with box office rentals of 3.2 million to 4.25 million. I wonder how many of his 167 IMDb credits were movies that got a wide release in North America?
