Requests

requests1

Thankfully we get lots of requests for new pages.  Well…the wife recently informed me that my way of collecting my requests was pretty weak.  She seems to think that writing down requests on whatever piece of paper or napkin or bill that is currently on my desk is not the way to do it.  So….since she is way smarter than me….I have decided to create a page just for requests.  Plus it should give a good idea of what pages are coming down the pike.

My logic in picking which page to do next….I lean heavily towards the subject that has the most requests.

  • Roger Corman – request by Dan
  • Peter Cushing – request made by SteveLensman, Dan & Brando 90
  • Disney Live Action 1967-1980 – request by Mimic
  • Foreign Movies requested by Laurent
  • Samuel Goldwyn – request by Dan
  • Sam Katzman – request by Dan
  • Fritz Lang – request by Lupino, Just Me
  • Bruce Lee – request by Brando 90
  • Harold Lloyd – request by Søren, Me
  • Henry Mancini – request by Flora
  • Patricia Medina – request by Dan
  • Mirisch Brothers – request by Dan
  • Edward Small – request by Dan
  • Rudolph Valentino – request by Laurent

Completed requests:

Many more to come…have to find all of my old napkins and transfer the requests to this page.

  1. HI BRUCE

1 I am currently enjoying mulling over your new Jeanette MacDonald, Victor Mature and updated Jane Fonda pages and of course will be submitting posts on the three over the next week.

2 When perusing the MacDonald presentation it struck me that you have now fairly well profiled most of the big stars of the Hollywood musical decades – Astaire/Rogers, Grable, Hutton, Garland, Crosby, Sinatra and Esther Williams etc and it struck me that 3 of the outstanding ones that immediately come to mind who would interest me are Kathryn Grayson, Jane Powell, and Howard Keel. Nelson Eddy is probably substantially done via the MacDonald page and Lanza doesn’t have much of a career to cover.

3 It would not be too difficult for YOU to profile the three first mentioned as each made relatively few movies, their careers virtually vanishing with the decline of the old style musical,
Powell degenerating into a sex romp flick and Keel disappearing into a couple of those A C Lyles ‘Senior Citizens’ movies. Also since all 3 worked for MGM there would probably be a
raft of juicy worldwide stats !

4 You’v given us enough to go on with but keep in mind my requests because I’m sure that you too would be keen to round off your examination of the great musical stars of the Golden Era and indeed I think that you have already covered quite a few of at least the domestic entries for the three concerned on other stars’ pages and on your Best Musicals presentation – for example Calamity Jane, Annie Get Your Gun, some Esther Williams movies, Ride Vaquero, The War Wagon etc in the case of Keel.

Thanks for considering these requests BOB

    1. Hey Bob….glad you are enjoying these new pages. I will add your suggestions into the request page….all are good suggestions. Looking forward to your comments. Got another new page coming…I worked hard on finishing pages before leaving for Alaska….I will be sharing those links through the “daily posts.”

      1. “Bless your beautiful hide…” [Bruce blushes]

A Howard Keel page would be welcome Bruce, he was one of the ‘musical’ greats and also starred in a popular sci-fi film – The Day of the Triffids.

  2. Hello Bruce,
Thank you for the pages,i was in hollidays so i just discovered the Darnell page to day
    At my return.
I can Tell you that Linda Darnell was very popular in France too, i saw a lot of her film on TV.but it was just during the 1940s that she was so popular.
She worked for FOX during these years.
My favorite film is Black beard the pirate directed by HAWKS.
    Thanks again
    Pierre

    1. Hey pierre….glad you found and like your Linda Darnell page….it was a fun one to do….because I knew almost nothing about her. I appreciate the suggestion….hope your holiday was awesome.

  3. Hi Bruce,

I gotta weigh in on two very succesful actors; Victor Mature and Frederic March. With the exception of Tony Curtis they are close to your biggest guys from that era on the to-do list.

    Whattaya say

    Marcel

    1. Hey Marcel….thanks for the suggestions….all three of those actors are on the request list…..I suspect they will be coming soon…..especially Tony Curtis. March has so many Paramount movies that it will require lots of extra research….while Matures mid 1950 and later career looks very challenging too. But I will get all three done soon.

      1. Hi Bruce,

I can imagine see where the Universal/Warwick years might present a challenge for Mr Mature. Frederic March isn’t a cake walk either having shyed away from signing long-term studio contracts.

Don’t you just hate guys who don’t play ball?

Just to show you that I am not all bad I have suggested easier pages….remember John Cazale? Statistically speaking your highest rated actor: 80% in 100m$ grossing films and top marks in oscar nominated and winning films; UMR rated films; critic rated films….probably the highest average grossing films as well. To boot you’ll probably have it all done by noon.

        Marcel

        1. Hey Marcel….I was doing some deeper research on Mature today….but Jeanette MacDonald drew the attention away from him…and now our new page is Jeanette MacDonald movies.

John Cazale will give James Dean a run for the money…when it comes to comparing percentages. John Cazale and his 5 movies is one of my favorite trivia questions.

Thanks for the feedback and the vist….both are greatly appreciated.

    1. Hey Lyle….I will add Lupino and Bennett to the list….and add your name to the Young request…thanks for the suggestions.

  4. hey Bruce,
a very good idea your request pages and i undertand when i read it how many time you need to do the pages with all the wishes. So i will be very patient for Darnell s page.
than you and have a nice day
    Pierre
