  1. I have also recently watched Richard in three TV movies – Jonathan Stone: The Threat of Innocence; The Forget me Not Murders; and the thriller Deep Family Secrets co-starring Angie Dickinson.

Indeed his television career was massive and Wikipedia gives details of 78 productions that he appeared in between 1952 [debuting on the small screen in the popular I Love Lucy show] and 2003.

In 2014 he also surfaced in a Rambo video game. That was 11 years after Richard’s death but as I never watched it I don’t know precisely how they worked him into it; though as the video includes scenes from his 3 Rambo outings that Bruce mentions above I presume that it is in repeats of some of these scenes that Richard appears.

When he died he had a reported net worth equivalent to about $14 million in today’s money. Although he was never a major star his overall prolific output in both big and small screens have in my opinion made him worthy of a profile by Cogerson at one stage or another. Well done Bruce.

    1. Hey Bob….thanks for the further details of his television career. I agree with you….it was indeed massive….and happened for a very long time. I am sure they lifted his voice from the movies…to get him in the video game. Thanks for the information on his net worth. Good stuff as always.

  2. Richard Crenna especially as he got older has always reminded me slightly of William Holden both in physical appearance and acting style and I think that Bruce’s fine little miniature above from Wait Until Dark to an extent bears out my contention in relation to the physical appearance aspect. I have seen Richard in 5 movies:

    1/Wait Until Dark
    2/Sabrina [1995]
    3/Red Skies of Montana***
    4/Jade
5/One of the Rambo movies. I have seen only one ever in that entire franchise and I can’t recall which one it was.

***This Widmark flick was among Crenna’s first 3 movies [which were made between 1950 and 52] and in all 3 of them he was uncredited. Another one of the 3 was the musical Starlift and in it Crenna had the walk-on part of a cinema usher!

    1. Hey Bob…thanks for sharing your thoughts on Richard Crenna. I can see you thinking as he age he looked like William Holden. Tally count: 13 for me, 9 for Flora and 5 for you. As for Red Skies of Montana…I included it here….because at least his character had a name….”Noxon”….the other two gave him no name…so they did not make the list.

As for the Rambo movies…seen one..then you have seen them all. Part 1: Rambo quietly living his life. Part 2: Bad guys do something to piss Rambo off. Part 3: Rambo kills everybody. Part 4: Rambo goes back to his quiet life….lol. Good stuff as always.

  3. In summer camp in 1970 they showed us Wait Until Dark. I don’t know how they chose some of the movies they decided were for kids. Other strange ones they showed included The Defector with Montgomery Clift and 23 Paces to Baker Street with Van Johnson but I’m going off topic.

Richard Crenna is # 757 on the 2020 Oracle of Bacon Top 1000 Center of the Hollywood Universe list. These are the actors on this list he has appeared with.

    1. Hey Dan. Good information on Richard Crenna. Wait Until Dark sound like a good movie to show kids…but then again, I thought showing John Carpenter’s The Thing to my five-year was a good movie to show kids…so I might not be a good judge on proper kid movies.

So Richard has a spot in the Top 1000. Not sure I would have guessed that. Looking at the first list….our winner of the most frequent Oracle Co-Star goes to Sly Stallone. All three of their movies are from the Rambo series. The last one (not Crenna’s last one) was horrible.

Looking at the second list…16 Oscar winning co-stars….on the low end. I just saw his movie with Julie Andews….Star! was a long long musical with Crenna getting the girl at the end of the movie. Good stuff. Remember…you are the man!

  4. I have seen 9 Richard Crenna movies.

The HIGHEST rated movie I have seen is The Sand Pebbles.

The highest rated movie I have NOT seen is First Blood.

The LOWEST rated movie I have seen is Made in Paris.

    Favourite Richard Crenna Movies:

    Wait Until Dark
    Hot Shots! Part Deux

Other Richard Crenna Movies I Have seen:

    Marooned
    The Pride of St. Louis
    Breakheart Pass
    Our Miss Brooks
    Red Skies of Montana
    Made in Paris

    1. Hey Flora…thanks for checking out our Richard Crenna page. He was one of the “Joel” subjects. Tally count…13 for me and 9 for you. I have seen both of your favorites. Surprised that Body Heat is not one of the ones you have seen. I would say Wait Until Dark, The Flamingo Kid and Body Heat are my Top 3 Crenna movies. In my opinion you are not missing much when it comes to Rambo. Good stuff as always.
