hate to see the Best Foreign Film at the Oscars go unnoticed
According to
The Foreign Film Renaissance on American Screens, 1946–1973

“The Shop on Main Street”
grossed 3 million
Very high RT and IMDB ratings.
It seem outrageous that such a film isn’t on any streaming source that I can locate.
“A Man and a Woman” 1966

2 Oscar’s, 2 nominations
Even if it doesn’t make your “cut”. Its worthy of sharing in a comment.
Isn’t 116 An American Dream (1966)
the same movie as
129 An American Dream/I’ll See You In Hell (1966)

I’m not sure why your metadata would be different if they are the same movie. Maybe you have to combine their data in one record?
HI BRUCE
The Appaloosa was never a title that I liked. I prefer Southwest to Sonora, which the film went by over here; so I have it listed in my own database under the latter title. Nobody’s gonna Americanize ME!
Full marks to Sidney for spotting the slight error though; it’s good to see that I have a kindred spirit who loves total correctness! It must be said however that even negligible errors are rare on Cogerson, and though I enjoy trying to wind you up – usually without success- when you do inevitably make a small one, this site’s record for almost 100% correctness across such a massive volume of diverse historical and topical material is amazing and should be acknowledged. As the cliché goes “It’s the exception that proves the rule.”
“Between the outlaw and the outlaw, the wanton and the wanted — lay the violent land Southwest to Sonora!”
Thanks Bob. Good information on Southwest to Sonora/The Appaloosa. Sidney has been finding lots of title errors on UMR. I figure the more he finds them, the less errors on the website…so I am very grateful for his efforts (and yours)/ I am sure most of those errors are me thinking I correctly remember the title name when I am typing the title into the database…and then screwing up the title when I type it in. I guess I need to copy and paste more. Good stuff as always…and now college awaits me.
92 Appaloosa (1966)
should be
92 “The Appaloosa” (1966)
Hey Sidney….that Brando movie has been fixed….shocked Bob…one of most loyal readers and Brando fan did not notice that error. Thanks for the headsup.
