  1. Barbara is not in my database but I though she was quite fetching in my younger days. I’ve seen North Avenue Irregulars twice and can’t remember much about it. I also did not like the casting in the remake of Freaky Friday, both Jamie Lee and Lindsay Lohan never appealed to me (at least Jamie has some class).

    1. Hey Dan…..it is strange seeing a comment from you that is only in paragraph form….lol. North Avenue Irregulars is a movie I think I have seen….actually thinking I saw it theaters……but can barely remember the movie. I actually liked both Freaky Fridays…at the time Lindsay Lohan was not the train wreck that she would become. Thanks for sharing your movie thoughts on Barbara Harris. RIP.

  2. As Bob already expressed, I am, too always saddened when a member of the huge “Acting Family” dies. When I read the news of her passing, Family Plot sprung to my mind immediatly, but then I had to search hard for more movie roles. In the end, I have seen 8 movies showcasing the talents of Miss Harris, but I find it hard to remember without help…that may be highly unfair to her, and is not meant as an offence. So, Rest in Peace Miss Harris, and even if I don’t remember a lot of your parts, Thank you for Family Plot.

    1. Hey Lupino…I agree it is always sad when a member of the “Acting Family” passes. I was shocked to learn that she only had a handful of movies over the last 30 years. I guess of “out of sight out of mind”. Tally count….we are tied with 8. Though I am pretty sure I have seen a couple more of her movies….just (a) do not remember her role and (b) not sure I saw them from start to finish. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Barbara Harris. RIP.

  3. I was hoping you would do a UMR page on Barbara Harris. RIP.

I have seen 5 Barbara Harris movies. I am most familiar (most viewed) with Family Plot. It is in the middle of my preferences for Alfred Hitchcock movies but my favourite of Barbara’s movies.

In order of preference, here are the 5 Barbara Harris movies I have seen:

    Family Plot – favourite
    Dirty Rotten Scoundrels -favourite
    A Thousand Clowns – favourite
    Peggy Sue Got Married
    Plaza Suite

    1. Hey Flora. I read your comment about her passing late Tuesday night….so when I woke up Wednesday I did a quick check on her career and realized most of her movies were already in the database. So I figured I should get this page out. I have seen 8 of her movies for sure….and possibly 10 of her movies….but the old memory is fading on me…lol. Not surprised that Family Plot tops your favorites. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels would top Family Plot in my book….but I like both of them. I did not like Plaza Suite at all…and seeing it is ranked 5th for you….thinking we see that movie the same way. Good stuff. RIP Barbara Harris.

    1. Hey SteinHoF16…..yep she was one of Hitch’s final two leading ladies. She and Karen Black are now no longer with us. Thanks for the kind words.

  4. RIP Barbara Harris.

I was looking at the poster for Freaky Friday (1976) yesterday featuring Harris with Jodie Foster and a moment later saw Flora’s comment that she had died.

Surprised to see only 16 films on the chart, I’ve seen just 4 of them – Family Plot, Grosse Pointe Blank, Peggy Sue Got Married and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

Family Plot was enjoyable but it isn’t one of my favorite Hitchcock films. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is my favorite from the films I’ve seen of this actress. Grosse Pointe Blank was good too. Its been ages since I last watched Peggy Sue.

Freaky Friday, which I can’t remember seeing, is her biggest hit in adjusted dollars, interesting. I haven’t seen the Lindsay Lohan, Jamie Lee Curtis remake either.

Nice tribute page Bruce. Vote Up!

    1. HI GUYS

Like Steve I haven’t seen many Barbara Harris movies but as a movie buff I’m always sad when another one of “ours” dies so I join in the tributes to Barbra.

Actually I feel quite comfortable talking about her to you two guys especially because

      (1) it will please the Work Horse that she appeared of course with Sir Maurice in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and when she retired from acting she took up TEACHING and said that she would give up teaching for acting again only if someone offered her 10 million dollars for a part. [Who did she think she was Gimme More, Willis’ ex?] So she was one of “yours” as well as “ours” WH

      (2) Steve may at last forgive me if for conveying to him that Tippi hated Hitch if I tell Steve that despite Family Plot not being one of his own faves from The Master of Suspense Barbara said after making it “Alfred Hitchcock is a wonderful man.”

I am pleased this site quickly paid its respect to Barbara so RIP Barbara from me too.t

      1. Hey Bob Roy…thanks for the thoughts and comment for Barbara Harris. I did not realize she left acting to become a teacher….that is a “Possibly Interesting Fact”. Even though her role in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is very minor…..it is the movie I think about when I hear her name. i think the Curse of 39 did her career in….and after 39 not many actresses are going to get many offers to earn $10 million for a role….unless your name is Meryl Streep. Glad she had kind words for Hitchcock. RIP Barbara Harris.

    2. Hey Steve. Thanks for checking out our Barbara Harris tribute. I learned about her passing from Flora’s comment as well. There are only two Harris movies not included here…1975’s The Manchu Eagle Murder Caper Mystery and 1981’s Second-Hand Hearts…both I failed to find box office grosses on. I have seen 8 of the movies….with a couple probables…..just not 100% sure I have seen them from start to finish. Sad that another connection to Alfred Hitchcock is gone…not sure how many more Hitch leading ladies are still around. I would say Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is my favorite…though Harris’ part is a supporting one. I love Gross Pointe Blank, seen it multiple times….I do not even remember her part in that one. Freaky Friday has been a hit both times….I actually like the remake more….but they are both fun movie. Good stuff as always. RIP Barbara Harris.
