Digging the new format.
Good news if you like this website. WoC and I decided to renew our yearly web host contract despite the ever rising costs to running the website. In early January it looked like the UMR doors would be closing.
As for the website…a major behind the scenes update is coming this week…..my website provider says any down time will be short but will be happening. We apologize in advance….but this is supposed to fix some of the issues we have been having the last few months.
The bridge that connects the website to our database is currently operational, it is creaky but working…so lots of new pages coming soon.
As for the Cogerson family….for the first time in months we are not dealing with medical emergencies and illnesses. Emily was cast in my school’s Sister Act Jr. musical. We get to build lots of stuff for that musical and WoC is making lots of costumes. So all is good here. Hope all is well in your neck of the woods.
This ends our UMR State of the Union address.
Hey Cogerson. Well I am glad you are not “shutting the doors”. Sorry to read about all the issues you have been experiencing. I am sure some of your readers would be inclined to help with your “ever raising costs” versus seeing all of these information just disappearing. FYI. There are people out there that would be willing to be your massive amount of content. I bring this up, not as a way to encourage you to quit, but as a way to have your work live on if your ever decide to pull the plug.
Thanks for the visit and the suggestions. Maybe in the future I will take you up on your suggestions. Once I make the payment….I do not think about quitting for a while. So those bad thoughts are already fading away this year. Good stuff.
I’ve been following influencers for board games on Youtube now for a couple of years. What has it taught me? That you can monetize your expertise very quickly with followers there. Simply start a video for each year of movie ratings and talk about the work you have done. Later if you feel like it you can even break those down into just covering your 60+ ratings movies in more detail. In addition those videos can begin and end with a hit the subscribe and like buttons to support you. Google then starts sending you checks based upon the Yahoo advertising revenue. Also you can use Patreon and create “club” levels of support with some videos only being made available to the highest level of subscribers. At the nd of your youtube videos you can invite folks to check out your Patreon. Perhaps encouraging the library collection folks into doing so by offering 1 on 1 support time(limited) to the highest patreon supporters. Bottom line is that your work is fantastic and I think it would just take a little camera work, lighting, and a smile and you’ll find yourself increasing your passive income in no time. Just remember to get some kind of insurance to cover being sued by various movie publishers if you cross some kind of line discussing the film ratings (usually happens if you actually show part of the film) but I think you can actually get by with just showing the thumbnail of the movie poster and just talk through your observations of box office data, rt, imdb, oscars and so forth.

You’re angle may not be movie reviewer per say but rather movie collector or watcher. I think it is a niche that will give you a lot more followers than these boardgame reviewers and some of them seem to be able to do this from their home fulltime.
Board game Examples ( to name a few): https://www.youtube.com/c/BoardGameCo/videos, https://www.youtube.com/c/Quackalope, https://www.youtube.com/c/rahdo, https://www.youtube.com/c/ThinkerThemer, https://www.youtube.com/c/NoPunIncluded, https://www.youtube.com/c/3MinuteBoardGames, https://www.youtube.com/c/GnarlyCarleyGaming, https://www.youtube.com/c/shutupandsitdown, https://www.youtube.com/user/thedicetower, https://www.youtube.com/c/TheBrokenMeeple, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCR9062-k6BCyDkwk21QF4FA, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGK9n7svoIjuaQfRIBJXkqQ
And if that isn’t enough to help boast your revenue stream consider investing in retiring Lego sets ( you can search youtube for more info about that…)
What about Ana de Armas? Will she be on the Alphabetical Links to Over 1000 Individual Actors, Actresses & Directors Ultimate Movie Rankings Pages?
Hey Ruben….I currently do not have a page on her….but I will see if I can get one done. Thanks for stopping by.

REPRODUCED FROM PART 2 “In short back in its Halcyon the Cogerson site seemed alive with camaraderie but now whilst, like Bruce’s own books, the site is still a great source of information despite Bing etc, for me at least only for Steve Lensman it would be an empty forum for serious discussion about movies. ——–many “old timers” who used to be stalwart commenters seem to me to be sadly missing from posting these days or else write-in just occasionally.”
Lonely I wander through scenes of my childhood
They bring back to memory the happy days of yore
Gone are the old folk, the house stands deserted
No light in the window, no welcome at the door
Here’s where the children played games on the heather
Here’s where they sailed their wee boats on the burn
Where are they now? Some are dead, some have wandered
No more to their home will the children return
Lonely the house now, and lonely the moorland
The children have scattered, the old folk are gone
Why stand I here, like a ghost or a shadow?
Tis time I was moving’, tis time I passed on
THE OLD HOUSE by John McCormack recorded 1940
