4th Iron Man (2008)
5th Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
6th Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
7th Iron Man 2 (2010)

12th Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)

14th Thor (2011)

18th Thor: The Dark World (2013)
19th Iron Man 3 (2013)

20th The Incredible Hulk (2008)

Professor Vandross’ Thoughts:  I believe almost all of the MCU movies are quality , fun movies.  The only comic book superhero they have not done justice too is the Hulk.   They have done better in the Mark Ruffalo movies, but the stand alone Hulk movies have been bad! This is why it sits at the bottom of my rankings.  Although most of my Top 5 is interchangeable.  I do feel Thor:Ragnarok is the best.  The movie has a lot of action and it stays true to a lot of the comic book source material.  It introduces new characters, provides good background information on our heroes and is a truly enjoyable movie for both the comic book fans and movie fans.

Cogerson of UltimateMovieRankings (UMR) MCU Rankings:

1st Captain America: Civil War (2016)
2nd Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
3rd Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
4th Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
5th The Avengers (2012)
6th Ant-Man (2015)
7th Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
8th Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
9th Iron Man (2008)
10th Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)
11th Ant-Man and Wasp (2018)
12th Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
13th Doctor Strange (2016)
14th Black Panther (2018)
15th Iron Man 3 (2013)
16th Thor (2011)
17th Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
18th Iron Man 2 (2010)
19th The Incredible Hulk (2008)

20th Thor: The Dark World (2013)

Cogerson’s Thoughts:  Thor:The Dark World is my least favorite UMR movie.  The movie is so forgettable, it always takes some research to remember what the movie was about.  I know I am alone, but I did not really love any of the stand alone Iron Man movies.  I do like Downey, Jr. as Iron Man but have enjoyed his “supporting/ensemble MCU roles” more than his “starring MCU roles”.    Paul Rudd as Ant-Man is something I have really enjoyed.  I am sure many would say I have the Ant-Man movies ranked too high.  As for Black Panther….I wanted to love it, but have to admit I was not that impressed.

I re-watch my Top 3 regularly.  Guardians of the Galaxy is a fun ride…..it achieves greatness with little effort…while the sequel tries really hard, but fails to recapture that greatness.   I suspect Infinity War might drop in the rankings as the story wraps up in the next few MCU movies….but right now, it is almost at the top of the rankings. So that leaves Captain America:  Civil War.   The airport fight scene alone might make it my number one MCU movie.  Great action, lots of humor and great character story lines make this my favorite MCU movie.

    1. Why I saw this one? Two reasons….I really enjoyed Homecoming and I have enjoyed all the movies that Tom Holland played Spidey.

What is this one about? Following the events of Avengers: Endgame , Spider-Man must step up to take on new threats in a world that has changed forever.

My thoughts on this one? Gotta say….though I know….I might be alone in this thinking….but I was not too impressed with this one. Compared to most movies it is well done…..compared to other MCU movies this was a misfire. The comedy in this one fails….even worse is the fact that “attempted comedy” is in the movie a lot. I found the massive action scenes pretty boring. The villain is ok at best. New York City was really missed.

On the good side of things….I loved the Tony Stark/Iron Man references. The first end credit scene with a character from Sam Rami’s Spidey movies was awesome. I liked the relationship between Peter and Mary Jane. In the end, the good stuff was not enough to overcome the bad stuff…..so giving this an average 3 star rating.

  1. “an immensely satisfying payoff” Those are the words I wanted to hear. I’ll probably see Avengers Endgame some time next week.

Check out the slideshow in the link nearly everyone in the MCU was at the premiere, whoa!

“This can’t be understated: Avengers Endgame is everything you want it to be and more. I am absolutely floored. A perfect reflection on the last 11 years that pays off everything in the best way possible. Without question my new favorite Marvel Cinematic Universe film. Stunned.”

    🙂

  2. Now this is what interests me. Love all of these movies. Seen almost all of them in theaters. They are movies I look forward to and ones I rewatch regularly. Favorites would include Guardians 1, Thor 3, Captain America 2, Iron Man and Infinity War. Seeing Venom tonight.
