Want to know the best Dog Movies? How about the worst Dog Movies? Curious about Dog Movie box office grosses or which Dog Movies picked up the most Oscar® nominations? Need to know which Dog Movies got the best reviews from critics and audiences? Well you have come to the right place….because we have all of that information.
To make this list, a dog or dogs had to be the main focus of the movie….sorry John Wick, Up. & Hondo. The animal had to be a dog…..sorry Balto, Alpha & Omega and all the wolf movies. We had to have box office grosses on the movie…..sorry Where The Red Fern Grows. Yes, a few movies featured cats….but when it comes time to do a Cat Movies page……the dogs in those movies will invade our cat UMR page. See a missing Dog Movie?….just put that movie in the comment section…and we will see if we can add it to the table.

Here’s a suggestion for a dog movie!!! THE WIZARD OF OZ. Dorothy’s dog,Toto, was a big part of that movie in my opinion. Dog movies I have seen include the MGM Lassie movies from the 1940s as well as such films as LADY AND THE TRAMP (1955), 101 DALMATIONS (1961). OLD YELLER (1957), THE SHAGGY DOG (1959), WON TON TON: THE DOG WHO SAVED HOLLYWOOD, K-9, THE CALL OF THE WILD (1935), BENJI, and BEETHOVEN. Just my opinion but the 1955 animated version of LADY AND THE TRAMP is one of the best movies of all time. LASSIE COME HOME is one of the better live action dog movies I have seen. OLD YELLER is the saddest dog movie I’ve seen. I haven’t seen TURNER AND HOOCH, MARLEY AND ME, and THE SECRET LIFE OF PETS to name a few.
P.S. my belated condolences for the loss of your beloved Goldie. My dog, a German Shepherd named Duke, is a big part of my family, and I know when he dies, I will be absolutely devastated.
