  1. I think I first noticed pretty Elisabeth in The Karate Kid back in my video renting days of the 1980s, watched it a bunch of times, the sequels too. Mild mannered Mr. Miyagi was a lot of fun as the karate teacher.

I’ve seen 11 of the 37 films on the chart, hmm less than I thought.

Favorites are – Back to the Future 2-3, The Karate Kid, Cocktail (a guilty pleasure) and Piranha 3D (a guilty pleasure looking even guiltier in 3D)

I haven’t seen her Oscar-nominated work in Leaving Las Vegas.

    Good stuff Bruce. Vote Up!

    1. Hey Steve…nice to see you bounce back with a double digit tally…it has been awhile since you reached such heights. Tally count: Cogerson 24, Steve 11 and Bob 7. You know…I have to say I am not surprised you have not seen Leaving Las Vegas. I do not know how you can resist these movies that get so much publicity. I feel obligated to watch them….and many turn into depressing movies that I do not enjoy. You should be suffering with me!….lol. I have seen all of your favorites. Thanks for the visit and the vote up.

  2. Good timing Mr. Cogerson. I just got through watching Elisabeth Shue in The Boys. She makes for an excellent villain. Not sure she has done the villain role too many times.

    1. Hey Taylor…glad this was good timing. I watched a couple episodes of The Boys…but was not impressed enough to continue watching..I might return to that series again. But you are right she does not play the villain too often. Good thoughts.

  3. I have seen  Elisabeth Shue  in seven films including the Willis version of Death Wish; and Karate Kid was my own favourite among the seven. A study of her filmography suggests that in only two films in her career has she ever received top billing: Piranha 3D and Hollow Man. In recent times she has as often as not been well down the cast list.

In the pipeline for her are:1/COMPLETED: Big screen movie Greyhound a war film starring Tom Hanks who is billed alone above the title with Elisabeth mentioned 4th in the cast list. Tom wrote the screenplay.

2/COMPLETED: TV movie Constance a drama with Lisabeth in the title role but 2nd billed to Madison Bailey. It has been devised as THE PILOT of a hoped-for TV series.

3/PRE-PRODUCTION stage: On the Verge a TV series top-starring Julie Delpy;  it is a comedy that gives  “A look a life for a group of women in their forties” 12 episodes are initially planned.

Elisabeth has been in 12 previous television productions. The trajectory of her career disappointed me following her Oscar and Golden Globe-nominated performance in Leaving Las Vegas; and indeed Wikipedia lists 10 roles that she auditioned/was considered for but which never came to fruition. However she has a current net worth of $12.5 million and IMDB credits her with 8 acting awards and 13 noms.

    1. Hey Bob. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Elisabeth Shue, her career, net worth and tv roles. 7 is a pretty good number…though I have seen 24 of her movies….but like I said….I have a serious crush on her. I though Bruce’s Death Wish was pretty good…especially the first half…which is the part that features Shue. Karate Kid is a classic..though not thinking many feel that way about the movie based on Shue’s role. Cool information that she is in Greyhound…I liked that trailer. I agree, her career did not really take off after Leaving Las Vegas. Good stuff as always.

  4. Hi Mr. Cogerson,

Thank you so much for doing this.
I fell in love with her at first site in Adventures in Babysitting.
If I were an actor playing Romeo she would have be my Juliet in a remake movie.
