Elvis Presley Movies

Want to know the best Elvis Presley movies?  How about the worst Elvis Presley movies?  Curious about Elvis Presley box office grosses or which Elvis Presley movie picked up the most Oscar® nominations? Need to know which Elvis Presley movie got the best reviews from critics and audiences…and which Elvis movie got the worst reviews? Well you have come to the right place …. because we have all of that information.

Elvis Presley (1935-1977) the singer was the “King of Rock and Roll”.  The “King” has sold over 2.5 billion in worldwide records.  Following in the footsteps of Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra, Presley went from singing to acting in movies.  Elvis Presley’s first number one song, Heartbreak Hotel, was released in January 1956.  By the end of 1957 he had appeared in three movies (Love Me Tender, Loving You, and Jailhouse Rock) and they were all box office hits.  After Presley finished filming King Creole he was drafted.  He would return to movies with G.I. Blues in 1960.  For the rest of the 1960s he averaged nearly three movies a year.

When looking at his IMDb page you find some pretty interesting Elvis Presley credits.  Presley has 31 acting credits.  His music has been featured in 397 movies and television shows.  And he appeared as himself in 23 projects…including many documentaries.  This page will rank 31 Elvis Presley movies from Best to Worst in six different sortable columns of information. Television shows, shorts, cameos and movies that were not released in theaters were not included in the rankings….I did include two of his most famous documentaries in the rankings.

Elvis Presley Movies Can Be Ranked 6 Ways In This Table

The really cool thing about this table is that it is “user-sortable”. Rank the movies anyway you want.

  • Sort by Elvis Presley movie titles…link takes you to that movie’s trailer
  • Sort by Elvis Presley’s co-stars of his movies.
  • Sort Elvis Presley movies by actual domestic box office grosses using current movie ticket cost
  • Sort Elvis Presley movies by adjusted domestic box office grosses using current movie ticket cost
  • Sort Elvis Presley movies by movie’s domestic yearly box office rank
  • Sort Elvis Presley movies how they were received by critics and audiences.  60% rating or higher should indicate a good movie.
  • Sort Elvis Presley movies by Ultimate Movie Rankings (UMR) Score.  UMR Score puts box office, reviews and awards into a mathematical equation and gives each movie a score.

Absolutely enjoy all of Elvis’ movies. My absolute favorite is Girl Happy, followed by Tickle Me. My Mom took me to see these two movies of his when I was only 9 yrs. old & I became an instant fan & always will be! I thought his movies were always so much fun to watch. I did not care that much for Harum Scarum but of course, would watch it again. Thinking of Elvis today on what would have been his 85th birthday!

Hey Sue L. First of all, thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts on Mr. Elvis Presley. Thanks for sharing your two favorite Elvis movies. I would put Blue Hawaii, Viva Las Vegas, King Creole and Jailhouse Rock as my favorites. I do not think many people liked Harum Scarum very much. Weird Elvis stat. At this point in time…he has been gone longer than he was alive. Roughly 42 years lived, 43 years gone. Good comment.

You know your. 10 to still today. The movies were fun. I didn’t Care for the last because. They weren’t good it was money for the colonel he would have taken. Elvis ‘s. Soul if it made a profit probably sold his ashes if it were possible. The first movies took it to your secret place. I even ask a Dr. Once. And he told me in rough times. I could escape the pain I had to put up with.

As you can see, his acting career was on a roll until he went into the service. When he returned, it seemed the Producers and Writers were focused on giving him a guitar and singing to a pretty girl. I read there were a couple big opportunities such as West Side Story and A Star is Born, but the Colonel Parker ruined those deals. Wayne Newton said Elvis was so excited when he thought he was going to star with Babes in the remake. “Sad”.

Hey Russell J. Great points on Elvis’ movie career. It is a shame that there was no Elvis/Barbara Streisand A Star Is Born…..that would have been awesome! Colonel Parker made many great decisions….but he also made many poor decisions with regards to Elvis’ career. Thanks for stopping by and commenting on our Elvis page….it is greatly appreciated.

Elvis didn’t want to do a Star is Borne. He was fat and out of shape at the time. He was going to have lose weight and stop his drug use again like he did for the Aloha from Hawaii concert.. At first he did want to do the movie but he later changed his mind.. He had the Colonel get him out of the movie!!!

Hey David H. Thanks for the further information on the 1970s version of A Star Is Born. Too bad he was out of shape…a Babs/Elvis version would have been very very interesting.

I am currently in the process of watching all 31 of his movies excluding concerts. I still have 10 to go with Change of Habit being one of them. So far From what I have seen there are only 6 movies I don’t recommend. Here they are rated best to worst.
      1 Double Trouble
      2 Harum Scarum
3 It Happened At The Worlds Fair
      4 Paradise Hawaiian Style
      5 Fun In Acapulco
      6 The Trouble With Girls
Just my opinion though. Plus as I stated I do still have 10 to go. I honestly believe he was a very good actor. He just needed to be challenged with more acting row’s like King Creole, Jailhouse Rock, Wild In the Country, Loving You etc

good share. I hope you give us the entire list in order of your preference when you have seen them all. i am not sure how good of an actor Elvis was but he had a personal charisma that rivalled Brando and MMonroe. he was a great entertainer. I particularly enjoyed his gospel music.

Hey bob cox….I agree this was a fun share by Roger….I just had fun comparing his liked and not liked Elvis movies….I feel it matches the UMR score pretty well. Good point about Brando, Monroe and Elvis….3 1950s Icons for sure.

Hey Roger. Sounds like you are enjoying your Elvis marathon. I appreciate you sharing the ones you do not recommend. I always look to see how our UMR scores match with someone’s opinion of the movie. So of the 6 you do not recommend…here are rankings of those movies.

        4 Paradise Hawaiian Style 19th
        5 Fun In Acapulco 16th
6 The Trouble With Girls 27th

So 4 of the 6 are at the bottom of our rankings….and two are in the middle

Meanwhile when looking at the ones you enjoyed his performanc

        2. Jailhouse Rock……1st
