  1. I watched Laura Linney in Congo recently, an old 90s favorite.

I’ve seen 12 of the 44 films on the chart, favorites include – Congo, Dave, Arthur Christmas and Ninja Turtles.

The Truman Show is highly rated, one of Jim Carrey’s best films but it’s never been a favorite of mine. I found it unlikely that any future society can do that to a person and get away with it. Up there with The Hunger Games in ‘never-gonna-happen’ futures.

Planet of the Apes? That’s more like it laddie. The apes eventually take over, or is it the morlocks? We’re living in a deadly sci-fi scenario right now, the poor die and the rich survive.

    Good stuff Bruce. Vote Up!

      1. Hey Dan. I guess we’re gonna have to figure out a way to audit your comments to make sure you were giving us accurate information. Consider this your verbal warning, I really don’t wanna have to go to a paper warning but I will if I have to….lol.

    1. Hey Dan. First of all glad to hear from you, things still seem bad in New York but it seems like it’s getting slightly better. As always thanks for including these list, and as always they are packed with great trivia. Looks like Liam Neeson is her most frequent co-star. Oracle ranking is about where I would’ve guessed and she’s been a very busy actress since she started making movies. Oscar winning co-stars seems a little on the low side. Continue staying safe and healthy, and one day you’ll be able to again see a movie in a theater. Good stuff as always.

  3. In tandem with her prolific big screen career Laura has been in 22 television productions overall from 1993 until the present; and she has also been in 13 stage presentations from 1990 until Feb this year.

Her stage work has included much highly dramatic stuff in classics such as The Seagull/Uncle Vanya/and The Little Foxes all of which Tennessee Williams would no doubt have urged Stallone to stay well clear of. In The Little Foxes Laura played the lead as Bette Davis’ famous big screen Regina Giddens and Laura was nominated for a Tony award for her own stage interpretation.

In terms of maintaining a professional profile Laura could be said to have worked under the radar to some extent so to me it’s all the more impressive that IMDB credits her with 39 acting awards and 95 noms – wow! Her current net worth is reported as $7 million. She is currently enjoying success in the female lead of Jason Bateman’s wife in the TV crime thriller series Ozark 30 episodes of which have been running since 2017 and which has received 14 Primetime Emmy noms.

Long may her success continue and meanwhile this new page is “Voted Up” [I steal from only the best-sorry I don’t quote you often Joel!]. NB: On her wedding day in May 2009 Liam Neeson walked her down the aisle. It has been said that she was very honored as I’m sure that The Work Horse would have been if Sir Maurice or John McClane had walked HIM down the isle.

    1. Hey Bob. Lots of good information in this comment. I especially like learning that Liam Neeson walked her down the aisle. They have worked together many times in movies and on stage. As you point out she’s been a very very busy actress, and with the success of Ozark she should be busy for a long time. Speaking of Ozark, I have been binge watching that show, tonight I will watch the 30th in for the time last show. She is awesome in that show. Good stuff as always.

      1. HI BRUCE: Thanks for the feedback. As you are clearly impressed with Ozark I’ll have to watch our for it.

Please do me a favour and change “isle” to “aisle” in the last line of my Part 2 post at 4.36am yesterday. It would be a pity to spoil with even a minor spelling mistake a mention that leaves your viewers with the fond image of Sir Maurice OR Mr G M walking you down the aisle.

[“I give this man away in the hope that he’ll stop stalking me via his site!”]

Notice I emphasise “OR”: it would be too much to hope for that BOTH Sir M and Mr More would be prepared to do it at the same time!

  4. The diversely talented multi medium performer Laura Linney! Laura has always reminded me of a cross between Meryl Streep and Helen Hunt in physical appearance and indeed in 2002 Linney appeared on Sandra Boynton’s children’s CD album Philadelphia Chickens alongside Meryl Streep and Laura sings the song “Please Can I Keep It?”.

In my opinion if there is any actress who is not a major box office star but who more richly deserves a Cogerson new page than Laura even The Work Horse and Joel have never located her or have been keeping her to themselves. I have admired Laura’s work in the following 6 films:

    Dave
    Primal Fear
Absolute Power [good still above of Laura with Clint working together again on Sully]
    Truman Show
    Mothman Prophecies
    Mystic River

It will be appreciated that there is some heavy stuff in that half dozen but Laura also pleased me with her flare for comedy when she appeared as a romantic matchmaker in 6 episodes of the TV sitcom Frasier in the years 2003/2004. In 2004 Laura won a Primetime Emmy award for her work in those episodes as Charlotte the matchmake [Outstanding guest actress in a comedy series].

    1. Hey Bob. Thanks for checking out our Laura Linney page. I’m sure she would get a kick out of your comment since she is such a fan of Meryl Streep. I seen all of the six you pulled out and agree they are good movies. With the exception of Dave, She was a huge part of why those movies were so good. Interesting I didn’t even know that she was on Fraser. I’ll have to dig through WoC’s DVD on that series and find her episodes. Good stuff.
