Want to know the best Matthew McConaughey movies?  How about the worst Matthew McConaughey movies?  Curious about Matthew McConaughey’s box office grosses or which Matthew McConaughey movie picked up the most Oscar® nominations? Need to know which Matthew McConaughey movie got the best reviews from critics and audiences? Well you have come to the right place …. because we have all of that information.

As I was working on my latest page, Best Movies of 1946 and I got into a conversation about my latest page subject with one of my children (my 21 year old daughter). When I told her my latest subject, I could tell she had no interest what so ever in movies made 48 years before she was born. So figuring she has to represent a decent percentage of my readers, I figured I would publish a current page to go with my 1946 page. So I grabbed my handy dandy movie notebook and checked out some of my requests over the last 9 months. So the winner from the requests was Mr. Matthew McConaughey.

Matthew McConaughey (1969-) is an American actor who began his acting career in 1991. After appearing in supporting roles in movies like 1993’s Dazed and Confused, 1994’s Angels in the Outfield and 1996’s Lone Star, he got his first big break by getting the lead role in 1996’s A Time To Kill. Since the success of A Time To Kill, McConaughey has become one of the more recognizable leading men working in movies today. He has appeared in romantic comedies, action films, Oscar® winning dramas and even some horror films.   Our personal Top 3 McConaughey movies are Reign of Fire (2002), We Are Marshall (2006) and Interstellar (2014).

  1. He’s so iconic and yet I’ve only really have seen his rom-coms. But I think he’s great at what he does. Great page!

    1. Thanks for stopping by Alecia. I do not think he is one of my favorites but I have seen almost all of his movies….not sure if I will ever see Magic Mike though….but his next movie looks like a movie I would like….it is called Killer Joe.

  2. Great article. I’m gladdened it popped onto the rolling screen at home plate. I like how the comparison / contrast is used with Paul Newman. I would never have made that inference without your diligent work. It does have an interesting conclusion to it too.

I’ll have to say my favorites being closest to heart is We Are Marshall since I use to walk that campus every week. The food was OK, and the girls were all good lookers, being I was near 12 – 13. My dad was sent to Nam and we moved late ’68. I attended the college fellowship at the church on the campus edge and always wondered if I knew anyone.

The one that rings true to family is Angels in the Outfield, although more of an introduction. A time to kill I believe was his best drama film. Very poignant of those turbulent days.

Well, I thank you Cogerson and the wizards of HP to bring this to me today. I have to dash to work now. Say hello to the little one. Oh yeah, if she wants to sell her smile I’m in the market for smiles these days. I’m going to sell ’em on eBay. I told Simone about knowing if you are in love in a hub. That gave me an idea to buy a bunch of Gerber jars and label them Love with a note – Open in case of emergency

    1. Hey tsmog….thanks for the visit and the comment. Glad you liked my Newman/McConaghey comparison….I think I am one of the few people that even remember that he was called the next Newman.

That is cool that you are so familiar with Marshall….that is also one of my favorite football movies….as for your Gerber jars idea….sounds like a winner to me….I look forward to seeing that very soon….lol.

  3. Lol, drama is where its at. Keeps me entertained. I agree about the guy from Bladerunner. The adjusted box offices may be a handful, but I am sure you will enjoy it.

    1. Thanks for the support BryRog57. Luckily Debbie’s computer skills will come in handy when 2011 average ticket prices are calculated. I am glad you see my point about Hauer and Newman.

  4. Bryan-Oh, I’m always full of drama. Comes from being the daughter of retired professional musicians. Artists are dramatic people

    1. Hey Flora….well I like dramatic people….so you can cause drama on any of my pages…and I will always be greatly appreciative.

  5. WHoa, comments are full of drama, craziness, but stimulating. I agree that Mr. Matthew is nowhere close to Paul Newman status. But I really do enjoy his movies and Reign of Fire is one of my favorites, crazy American with an axe, too funny. Well as for me I think I can appreciate what the “older” actors have done, but I still like to keep up with the current ones.

    1. Hey Bryan…well it is a movie page…you have to expect some drama every now and then….as for Matthew McConaughey being compared to Newman…that comparison was during the press for A Time To Kill…I have not heard ever again….but I remember the comment….so we still look for the new Newman. I always thought Rutger Hauer(Bladerunner/Hobo With A Shotgun) looked liked Newman. Thanks for your thoughts on the classic actors and the current actors…I will keep both coming. I will update to 2012 adjusted gross when the average ticket price for the year comes out…last year it came out in mid-January…talk about lots of work to update all of these hubs. Thanks for the comments…and once again…Happy Veteran’s Day….grandma told me you had the whole day mapped out to get free food….you have earned that…and remember no matter how cold it gets in Alaska it is much better than how hot you got in Baghdad.
