  1. HI BRUCE: Thanks for your feedback here [and on my Colman and Malek posts too]. Your thoughts are always valuable to me and usually give me food for thought.

Funny thing, it had occurred to me too that Regina might soon be getting a visit from The Curse. HE’s almost as busy as you! However if she is successful as a director that could keep her going; and of course today’s thespians have television as a potential outlet for their talents as they age.

Indeed I have been watching re-runs of episodes the 1957-1966 Perry Mason black and white television series which I never saw when they were first released all those years ago; and many actors who had played supporting/walk-on parts in the old 1940s/50s film noirs and B movies keep appearing in the Mason series in the kind of roles they had played on the big screen.

Tom Tully [1908-1982 – prestige movie supporting roles in The Caine Mutiny, Love Me or Leave Me] is one example in a Mason episode I watched last night, and minor supporting actresses like Mala Powers [Cyrano De Bergaric] and Dianne Foster [Charlie Bill’s leading lady in 1954’s The Violent Men] surfaced in other recent Perry re-runs. By the mid 60s former beauties like that whilst still attractive were well past their first bloom

Initially television was seen by the film industry as a kind of blight; but with big screen B movies/film noirs becoming a thing of the past and dramatic changes in cinematic movie styles and audience tastes there is no doubt in my mind the TV has kept a lot of thespians in work over the years who might otherwise have disappeared from the scene earlier.

It could be that the ‘curses’ who prowl television production are kinder and more patient beasts than the Curse of 39, though a definitive conclusion there might have to await a separate W o C project if she’s ever in the mood! Anyway I hope you’re settling in OK in the New Year.

    1. Hey Dan. Pretty solid lists for Regina King. I imagine her movie career would need a serious boost to reach the Top 1000. Despite being an Oscar winner, the age of 48 does not bode well for that. Looking at the first list….lots of twos….but nobody over that total. As for the second list….3 Oscar winners from Legally Blonde 2….who saw that coming back then. Good stuff as always.

  3. In a career that started way back in 1985 Regina’s contributions on top of her big screen career have been:

1/Acting in 22 television productions between 1985 and the present. Currently she has the main role in the superhero TV drama series Watchmen co-starring Don Johnson, which started airing in October last year.

2/Directing from 2013-2018 (1) 17 episodes of 11 TV series (2) 2 TV movies (3) 1 documentary. She is now set to direct her first big screen feature film, One Night in Miami, at pre-production stage and scheduled for 2020 release. The pre-production notes read:. “In the aftermath of Cassius Clay’s defeat of Sonny Liston in 1964, the boxer meets with Malcolm X, Sam Cooke and Jim Brown to change the course of history in the segregated South.” Sounds like highly intelligent stuff.

    3/Directing 2 musical videos in 2010/2011.

I have seen 4 of the movies listed in Bruce’s tables: Enemy of the State, Jerry Maguire, [several times with my grandchildren!] Daddy Day Care and Mighty Joel Young. IMDB credits Regina with a whopping 60 awards and 61 noms and Celeb Net Worth says she had a net worth of $12 million in 2016 [$13 million today].

In light of all of the foregoing and Bruce’s mention of Time Magazine designating her as one of the world’s 100 most influential people of 2019, who can deny Regina her entitlement to her Cogerson page? – so “Voted Up!”

    1. Hey Bob….thanks for the thoughts on Regina King. I admit….although I have seen many of her movies, she never really caught my full attention. I loved her role in Jerry Maguire…..but I never connected her to other movies…..but now…..she is fully connected in my mind. I have heard about the Watchman series…but got fooled into seeing the movie….not sure I will dip my toe in that water again. King is certainly collecting lots of awards and worth….which is awesome. Hopefully her recent Oscar win will keep her going for years….though….she is passed the dreaded 39 now….lol. Good stuff.
