My wife gave me The Best of SCTV: THe Early Years for my birthday. Now we can relive Bob and Doug McKenzie. Remember their # 16 peaking hit on Billboard ” Take Off”.

Many years ago I was a dispatcher at a messenger service (pre internet/e-mail days) and we had Warner Brothers, Sony (Columbia and Tri-Star at the time) and Broadway Video (Saturday Night Live) as customers. Warner’s sent out tons of private invites to previews of their movies. Since Rick lived somewhere on the upper west side of Manhattan we were always delivering to his residence (probably the doorman accepted all deliveries).

Hey Dan….I remember Take Off playing on the radio back in my high school days…I have not heard that song in ages. That is an interesting story about your dispatcher days. I agree…the doorman was probably getting those packages. Good stuff…but no lists?

Rick’s not in my database, thought his career was too brief. I didn’t know anything about his personal life, just remember the papers saying back then that he retired.

HI BRUCE: Thanks for the feedback – always appreciated.

Regarding your not connecting up the Billy Fish dots, I too learned something new today when I was revisiting Laddie’s page to get some stats to support my argument that you neglected Alan in your Screen Duos tables. Here’s a copy of what I found

“COGERSON TRIVIA ITEM 5: ALAN LADD PAGE
Alan Ladd was the visual inspiration for the original illustrations of superhero Green Lantern/Alan Scott (created in 1940). Ladd was 27 years old at the point. The Green Lantern’s full name is Alan Ladd Wellington Scott.”

In all the times that I have visited Laddie’s page that item never sunk in with me; I guess I was just so overcome with excitement at getting and revisiting Alan’s stats to notice everything on the page in my reoccupation; so belated thanks for sharing it with your viewers. I wonder does Steve, a big action/super hero fan know that?

    Take care.

Full marlks to Rick the ‘family man’ for giving a priority to his family after the sad passing away of his wife; they didn’t have that long together. Artistic satisfaction aside it appears Rick doesn’t NEED to work as despite his long absence he has been able to hold back a respectable net worth of $10 million. This compares as follows with the net worth of each of his other Ghostbuster pals:

    Dan Ackroyd $180 million
    Bill Murray $140 million
    Harold Ramis $50 million
    Sigourney Weaver $50 million
    Ernie Hudson $5 million; and
Dave Thomas [Ricky’s Strange Brew chum] $3 million

I’ve seen 3 of Ricky’s movies: Ghostbusters 1 and 2 and LA Story. Amazing to think that it’s been17 years since he last had a cinematic release; though Brother Bear 2 was made in 2006 but went straight to DVD.

Ricky has also worked in television since 1981 but only sporadically since 1985 – 14 appearance in all; he made a Flintstones video game in 1994 in which he was Barney Rubble; and between 1981 and 2013 was involved with 8 album/soundtrack/audio-video projects.
It’s good to see from WH’s helpful link that Ricky is returning to the big screen with Shrunk. On the small screen, scheduled for release this year is An Afternoon with SCTV a Canadian-American comedy web television special reuniting the cast of Second City Television including Rick that is set to premiere on Netflix and CTV.

IMDB credits Rick with 3 awards and 4 noms in relation to a mixture of writing/acting/musical album achievements. Anyway one gets tired about reading about Virginians on this site and it’s nice to see a ‘real-deal’ Canuck getting a look-in by way new page; so “Voted Up.”

Hey Bob….I found three comments in the Spam folder….it looks like this is the one you wanted on the page. Sadly…when you were sending your comment…..the website was under spam attack….2,000 comments attempted to drop on the website in 10 minutes….the spam defense was busy defending the site….and snagged your comments as well. So it was Yes88it’s fault. But your comment is now safe.

Hey Bob….thanks for the thoughts, visit, tally count and comment on Rick Moranis. I have seen 18 of his 20 movies…or 90%. Interesting about the net worth of the Ghostbusters and some of their clients. So Dan has more money than Bill. I guess I would have guessed that.

17 years since a voice role, but another 7 years since Big Bully….so 24 years since Moranis was seen on the big screen. I wonder if he is in the new Ghostbusters movie. Good information on his television roles and the kudos for him for taking care of his family,

Looking at the trivia….#3 blew me away….I love trivia like that….and as many times that I have seen The Man Who Would Be King and Streets Of Fire….I never connected those Billy Fish dots, Good stuff as always….sorry that your comments went ot Spam.
