When I think of Robert Deniro, all I can say is…What happened to you?!

When I was growing up in the 70s and 80s, no one was better than Deniro. He was the unrivaled king. Everyone acknowledged him as the best living actor. The films he made were incredible (the guy knew how to pick great projects) and he never gave a bad performance.

If he had retired in 1999 after “Analyze This”, he quite possibly would have gone down in history as the actor with the most consistantly excellent career of anyone. His run from the early 70s through the late 90s was magnificent.

Fast forward to today…What happened?! Who is this guy calling himself Robert Deniro? Who is his guy who either sleep-walks his way through terrible films or hams his way through terrible films? The only thing he seems to be able to do is a caricature of Robert Deniro?

    Dear God, what happened?

    1. Hey Rob….I almost broke down his career by decade but I could not figure out a way to present the information in a format I was happy with….but looking at some of the movies…his current run of movies 2000 – 2011….closely mirror his movies from 1968-1974….in that they were not well received by critics or audiences and had terrible box office numbers.

Which means his peak was 1974 to 2000…and looking at his Top 25 movies…20 of them came from that time period. Another stat is the fact that he has not had an Oscar(TM) nomination in 20 years.

Maybe he has a few tricks left up his sleeve…and can end his career as one of the top actors. As always thanks for your comments.
