  1. Another winning page Cogerson, looking at the list of movies, simply awesome career he has had and it sounds like many more of his movies coming.

  2. Pretty cool Cogerson – I love DeNiro – he is one of then best and he can do anything. And he gets better and better. Cape Fear was one of my favorites – he’s one of those guys that always plays a good psycho! Lol

    1. Thanks for stopping by RealHousewife….I agree he does a great job of playing a psycho….and he is especially awesome in Cape Fear….hard to believe it has been twenty years since Cape Fear came out…time flies. Thanks again for the comments.

  3. I was just so excited for Robert DeNiro that I had to come back again for a visit because I knew I was missing something AND I found it! In the flick Backdraft he played the Arson Investigator and he kicked butt! I really hope his son or daughter pays this hub a visit, I think that should be a new cogerson tradition….children of actors/actresses should comment on their parents page! 🙂

    1. Hey Sunshine….I could live with that rule….DeNiro has 5 children…so maybe one of them will….but I think Gigi Garner is going to be the exception versus the rule. I agree he is awesome in Backdraft…..which reminds me that I need to buy Backdraft on Blu-Ray…..good luck tomorrow.

  4. Robert De Niro is one of the best in my book.. He seems to fit that mean mobster role perfect although I have heard he is actually a real calm and quiet guy in real life. Irony..

    1. Thanks for stopping by brooklyn00123…..yep DeNiro makes a great gangster….growing up in Little Italy I am sure he has lots of memories to draw on. I think you are correct about him being calm and quiet, I saw him on Letterman…and it was painful to watch him as he was not used to being himself in that situation….he had Dustin Hoffman there with him to help him out.

  5. I love Midnight Run! When I was younger the family would watch the (edited) version on TV all the time! Even now we can quote all the funny lines (“Alonzo Mosely, FBI!”).

Of course I love all the classic DeNiro roles, too, especially Godfather II, Deer Hunter, Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, Heat…

I think the best actors understand how to do comedy as well as drama. A lot of people assume comedy is easier, but it’s really harder to make people laugh than to cry/get emotional. In person DeNiro comes across as shy/soft-spoken, and it’s remarkable that he handles comedic roles so well too–Analyze This, Meet the Parents, etc.

    1. Great points Painted Seahorse…..I think before Midnight Run….people did not think he could do a comedy role….but the success of Midnight Run….opened new doors for him. I read he wanted to do Big…but the studio did not want him for the Tom Hanks role….when they passed on him…he signed up for Midnight Run…which I hear that might make a sequel of soon.

I do have to say I thought Little Fockers was a waste of time for so many great stars….I think that will finally end that franchise….thanks for stopping by and the comments.
