  1. HI BRUCE

I don’t normally “beat a big drum” like you and Steve do about the number of movies I’ve seen but there is nothing to boast about her as I have only ever seen 3 Rufus Sewell films [The Holiday, Zorro and The Tourist]. I enjoyed them all but I cannot remember him in them. He has no 100 million dollar barrier crashers in the table above and indeed only 6 of his movies crash the half $100 million mark.

Overall the 25 movies in the table have a total adjusted domestic gross of approx $695 million and the average gross of those movies is around $27.8 million so that Godpop for example with an adjusted Cogerson domestic gross approaching $710 million outgrosses Rufus’ movies in their entirety in the US and Canada.
However albeit only partial figures supplied by Box office Mojo suggest that Rupert’s movies may have done much better worldwide that they have done in the domestic market. IMDB credits him with 0 acting awards but 6 nominations.

I see though from the opening write up that Rufus has been acting for nearly 3 decades so in my opinion he fully deserves a page on this site so “Voted Up!” Certainly with a string of nominations under his belt, praise for a number of other fine performances, prolific exposure on the small as well as the big screen and an overall net worth of allegedly $50 million If I were Rupert I would consider that I had done very well out of it all.

    1. Hey Bob.
      1. As always…thanks for the feedback.
      2. I took care of your request of an edit….so your other comment does not exist anymore.
      3. So…you have seen 3 of his movies…and you liked them all?….seems it is time to watch the 4th one.
      4. I would suggest The Illusionist…..a good movie…and I know you will not forget his part in that one.
      5. I agree…..he so far, has not been a big box office draw…..but you never know….there might be a movie franchise that turns him into a mega-superstar…..and this page will already exist.
      6. Good feedback as always.
FYI. Many many times, I get into conversations about UMR. Normally, the question is asked…”:Who is your favorite star?”. As the page has gotten bigger and bigger….normally…I happily say….”Oh yeah…we have a page on that person”. Every once in awhile…..an answer to your favorite star….surprises me…..in this case….when Mrs. D. said….”Rufus Sewell”….I was like…and I think we are running out of stars to do pages on. You never know which star is affecting which people.

      1. HI BRUCE

Thanks for your interesting, detailed feedback on my Rufus Sewell post.

Thanks too for making the paragraph substitution for me. As you know I like all my posts to look their best for posterity because as the old adage goes “A thing of beauty is a joy forever!”

        Take care.

  2. I saw 6 including 5 of top 7. no tens. no 9s. his number one is a delightful heath ledger 8, a knights tale. other hidden gems all 8s: the tourist, amazing grace, the holiday. apparently a great television mini series participant: john adams, pillars of the earth, middlemarch. I hope to see hamlet.

    1. Hey bob cox…I am right there with you on Hamlet. 6 Sewell movies trails me and Steve. I think the person that requested this page really enjoys his television work…sadly…we were not able to include some of that stellar work from him. My second oldest son really enjoyed Amazing Grace…but I have yet to see it. Good stuff.

    1. Hey Dan
      1. As always….Thank for for sharing this information.
      2. I like the HM inclusions.
      3. Hmmm….not seeing many people Rufus worked with an incredible amount of times….some twos…..but not any threes.
      4. Granted…I am sure there are some lesser stars that have made at least 3 movies with him.
      5. Looks like Paris, je t’aime got him lots of the stars on the first….while…
      6. Hamlet…got him 40% of the stars on the Oscar list.
      7. Speaking of that Hamlet…I am not sure I have ever watched that one….seems I need to do just that.
      Good stuff as always.

  4. 20 years ago Rufus Sewell was the hero of the highly rated sci-fi thriller Dark City but than went on to play the token British villain in many of his best known films.

I’ve seen 11 of the 25 films on the chart, beat that Bruce! [Bruce grins]

Favorites include – Dark City, A Knight’s Tale, Legend of Zorro, Hamlet, Gods of Egypt and Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter. (the last two in 3D blu-ray)

    Nice work Bruce. Vote Up!

    1. Hey Steve….thanks for checking out our requested page on Rufus Sewell. For the longest time I kept getting him mixed up with Kim Coates (one the guys Bruce Willis kills in The Last Boy Scout….pool scene….”touch me again….and I will kill you”. I like you have seen 11 of his movies…..so I can not beat your total….but…I am happy to be tied with you.

My favorites would be Dark City (one of Roger Ebert’s favorite movies…he does an audio commentary for the movie), Legend of Zorro (good fun movie) and The Illusionist (came out the same time as The Prestige….seems that magician movie won out in the magician legacy competition…lol.

I thought Gods of Egypt was better than it got labeled…….good feedback as always.
