  1. I would like to thank Tom Hanks and Ron Howard for their very funny bit on the tv show about them winning/competing for “their” trophy for their youngest generation winning a beauty contest that I saw on facebook.

    We need more laughter.

  2. I was looking for his latest movie. Curious how far Hologram For A King will be down in the rankings. Escpeillay the critic column.

    1. Hanks must be a very unselfish actor. He took 2nd billing to Leo DiCaprio in Catch Me if You Can and Emma Thompson in Saving Mr Banks even though he was a much bigger star than either of them when the films were made..

      1. Hey Bob…..I think he is truly one of the good guys….he is one of my favorite actors for sure. Yep it seems he is not too concerned about billing at all….the polar opposite of McQueen.

        1. 1 In 1999 my daughter and her husband lived in Atlanta for a year and my wife and I went over and stayed with them for two weeks.

2 They took us on sightseeing all over the States, and we stayed in Savannah for a weekend. Of course we had to sit on the bench that has become a general tourist attraction because of Forrest Gump.

3 Maybe Savannah is a place that attracts all the unusual but kindly characters like Gump. We were sitting in a bar there when one of the other customers seemed to take a fancy to my daughter. He kept chatting to her without really becoming a nuisance. After half an hour he left.

4 I ordered an expensive round of drinks but the waitress would not let me pay for them. She explained “When he departs that gentleman who was sitting next to you always leaves plenty of money at the bar for the hospitality of those that he sits with.
He’s been doing that for years and sometimes pays for whole meals We have nicknamed him The Wild Man.

5 To this day my daughter and her husband will occasionally fondly remember The Wild Man.

    2. Hey FG …..you are correct….I need to update this page….I will add Hologram For A King and update the entire page right after I finish wrapping up my update on my James Cagney. Hopefully by tomorrow morning I will have that done. Sorry his new movie was not on the page already. Thanks for the visit and the comment.

  3. Great page, Batman! I prefer Tom Hanks in comedies, although I have seen most of his movies. I think it’s that Bossom Buddies that kind of set the tone….. He is a great actor, natural!

I am glad he didn’t take the batman’s role….. Micheal Keaton was wonderful in that….. But, then again, I had watched Beatle Juice before batman!! 🙂

    1. Hey LaThing….thanks for checking out my Tom Hanks hub. I like his comedies as well….I became a huge Hanks fan in the 1980s when he was making all of those comedies….they might not have been the best movies….but I enjoyed them…..The Burbs, Volunteers, Nothing in Common, Bachelor Party, Splash and The Money Pit…..classics….but I will admit….The Man With One Red Shoe and Dragnet are ones to avoid.

You never know which direction Hanks career would have gone if he got the Batman role….but then again….Hanks and Keaton both work at Pixar making computer movies…lol. Thanks for the comment.
