Johnny Depp started out his movie career playing secondary parts in movies like and Nightmare on Elm Street and Platoon. He then turned to television where he gained notoriety when he played Officer Tom Hanson on the television series 21 Jump Street from 1987 to 1990.  He left the series for a return to the big screen.
