Requests

requests1

Thankfully we get lots of requests for new pages.  Well…the wife recently informed me that my way of collecting my requests was pretty weak.  She seems to think that writing down requests on whatever piece of paper or napkin or bill that is currently on my desk is not the way to do it.  So….since she is way smarter than me….I have decided to create a page just for requests.  Plus it should give a good idea of what pages are coming down the pike.

My logic in picking which page to do next….I lean heavily towards the subject that has the most requests.

  • Roger Corman – request by Dan
  • Peter Cushing – request made by SteveLensman, Dan & Brando 90
  • Disney Live Action 1967-1980 – request by Mimic
  • Foreign Movies requested by Laurent
  • Samuel Goldwyn – request by Dan
  • Sam Katzman – request by Dan
  • Fritz Lang – request by Lupino, Just Me
  • Bruce Lee – request by Brando 90
  • Harold Lloyd – request by Søren, Me
  • Henry Mancini – request by Flora
  • Patricia Medina – request by Dan
  • Mirisch Brothers – request by Dan
  • Edward Small – request by Dan
  • Rudolph Valentino – request by Laurent

Completed requests:

Many more to come…have to find all of my old napkins and transfer the requests to this page.

    1. Hey Lyle …..glad you like your GCS page. I was mistaken about The Last Run….it actually did make the Variety Top Grossers page…..granted it was down near the bottom….but it earned 1.4 million in rentals…..I was right about They Might Be Giants….I guess I can’t be wrong all the time..lol.

  1. Hello Bruce.
I don’t know if anyone has requested George C. Scott or not but I’m real curious as to the kind of box office numbers you may have on his early 1970’s films like 1971’s “the Last Run” or 1971’s “They Might Be Giants”, which is one of my favorite Scott films. The early 1970’s are filled with great little films that I just haven’t seen a lot of box office numbers on, rentals or gross for that matter. I’m really interested in rentals from 1970 through 1975. The film industry was changing son much in the early seventies that many good films fell through the cracks as far as box office goes. My favorite years were 1970, 1971 and 1972 and I was wondering if any of your old Variety Lists contained very many film from this period. I’d be grateful for any information. Thanks.

    1. Hey Lyle..George C. Scott has been requested by a few people….but he will be the next UMR subject. As for the movies you mentioned….it does not appear they were very popular….as they did not reach the Variety Top Grossers lists….which all they had to do was reach 1 million in rentals. Let’s see 1970 lists 74 movies, 1971 lists 93 movies and 1972 lists 92 movies. Thanks for the suggestion.

  2. I might as well point out that I became interested in Peter Fonda in particular as supposed to a member of the Fonda dynasty in general that he loves his sister very much and that I wish that I had had a brother like he is to her and Amy but I don’t?

      1. Yes. He is an excellent brother. I mean, he got arrested after spray painting over a road sign that suggested Jane be fed to the whales.

  3. Looks like you have lots of requests. My favorite current actor is Tommy Lee Jones and my favorite classic actors are James Cagney and Fredric March. I would find those interesting if you can find the time.

    1. Hey Flora…actually we only have a Cagney page….I have thought about a March page many times….but his association with Paramount has scared me away.
