Ben Kingsley Movies

Want to know the best Ben Kingsley movies?  How about the worst Ben Kingsley movies?  Curious about Ben Kingsley box office grosses or which Ben Kingsley movie picked up the most Oscar® nominations? Need to know which Ben Kingsley movie got the best reviews from critics and audiences? Well you have come to the right place….because we have all of that information.

Ben Kingsley (1943-) is an Oscar®-winning English actor.  Although his acting career started in the mid 1960s it was not until he appeared in his first leading role in the early 1980s that he gained famed.  Granted that first movie was 1982’s Gandhi….which won the Best Picture Oscar® as well as a Best Actor Oscar® for Kingsley.  His IMDb page shows over 140 acting credits since 1966. This page will rank Ben Kingsley movies from Best to Worst in six different sortable columns of information. Television shows, shorts, cameos, and movies that were not released in theaters were not included in the rankings.  This was a request from yesteryear…from Hinton66 back in our Hub Page days.

      Hey Dan.
      1. Wow….Sir Ben is that high on the list……that is surprising.
      2. I would say 31 is less than average for a person with a plus 100 IMDb credit career.
      3. So in looking at the Top 30 you listed….I now have UMR pages on 9 of them (10 counting DeNiro)…almost 33%….not too bad….not thinking I will ever do a Danny Trejo page….but you never know….maybe if Machette Kills in Space is massive….that tune will change.
      4. I agree with you about Stonehearst Asylum…..a good sleeper movie….surprised it never saw theaters in North America…Kingsley is very good in the movie.
      5. As always…thanks for sharing this information….it is greatly appreciated.

    Hi

I once met Ben Kingsley in London coming out of a theatre. I was a bit starstruck and I congratulated him on Gandhi. Afterwards I felt really bad, how many times have people mentioned Gandhi to him?!
The fact he has appeared in many movies especially Schindler’s List and Bugsy, and yet Gandhi is one he’ll be remembered for the most. Nevertheless he is a fantastic character actor. I don’t think he was interested in stardom and don’t think he’ll ever be out of a job.

Hey Chris….very cool that you have gotten to meet Sir Ben. I would not be too concerned about bringing up Gandhi with him versus another of his movies. When I meet Richard Dreyfuss I thought it would be cool to mention Tin Men versus Jaws and Close Encounters…..the others around me brought up those two movies and Dreyfuss seemed more interested in talking about his bigger hits than his minor ones. It might have been the same way with him….either way….cool experience for sure.

I agree…the man will never be out of a job. Sometimes when I see him in a movie…I see Robin Williams….can you see that too? As always…thanks for the feedback.

Great start to his career. Seems he is almost in every movie made. I did not realize he was in his 70s.

Hey Helakoski….I think bald actors age the best…as the hair does not give away their age to easily. I agree he seems to be in everything….his Collide opens today. Thanks for the visit and the comment.

Krishna Bhanji has been busy hasn’t he? 57 films since Gandhi is impressive.

Kingsley is a good reliable actor and charismatic too which is why he’s always working.

I’ve seen 32 of the 57 films listed, lots of favorites here including – Gandhi, Bugsy, Species, Iron Man 3, Sneakers, Hugo, The Jungle Book, Ender’s Game and Sexy Beast (Kingsley hilarious as a nasty and offensive gangster).

Schindler’s List is one of Spielberg’s greatest movies but it’s not a film I watch often and therefore not a favorite.

I haven’t seen Death and the Maiden or House of Sand and Fog.

Dev Patel recently and now Ben Kingsley, two UK-born actors of Indian heritage. Good work Bruce. Voted Up!

      Hey Steve.
      1. Thanks for the visit and the comment.
      2. I have seen 37 of his movies…so I have you by 5 movies. My 37 represents about 65% of his movies.
      3. Actually surprised I have seen so many of his movies.
      4. As for your favorites….I have seen all of them except for Species….plus I was not a huge of Ender’s Game…I think that possible franchise did not take off.
      5. House of Sand and Fog is good but just brutally to watch….and ends on a horribly depressing note. *Spoiler alert….let’s just say he has at least one thing in common with his character in Lucky Number Slevin.
      6. I agree with you 100%….Schlindler’s List is not one I want to re-watch.
      7. Glad you like our recent UK-born actors of Indian heritage pages
