Hey Bruce,
I recall that Jason Robards is one of my old requests from over a year ago, so I’m glad you quickly got around to it 😉 Steve’s excellent utube video on Robards’ movies may have incited you. In any case, I have seen 10 of the films listed, and while I certainly liked Robards in his oscar-winning role in Julia and All the President’s Men, my favorite Robards performance is as Doc Holliday in Hour of the Gun, while my favorite film in which he appeared is Once Upon a Time in the West.
As you mention on top, Robards started out making a reputation for himself in the theatre, and ultimately I think it’s fair to say he has received more recognition for his stage work than film work (even though the latter has sometimes been outstanding). On the big screen, Robards enjoyed some success as a leading man, particularly after he reprised his stage role in A Thousand Clowns, but he was generally billed in supporting roles and second leads. Still, the list above shows that Robards has appeared in a solid number of acclaimed films.
Among “interesting facts” (if you add some), it’s worth noting that Robards received the US National Medal of Arts in 1997, which is considered the highest honor given to an artist and is awarded by the US President. And of course Robards was Lauren Bacall’s husband after Bogey passed away, and is the son of another famous Jason Robards who was also a stage and screen actor – hence why the younger Robards was referred to for a long time as “Jason Robards Jr”.

I’ve seen 13 of the 50 films on the chart. Favorites are – Tora Tora Tora, Crimson Tide, Hour of the Gun, Something Wicked This Way Comes, Raise the Titanic, All the Presidents Men, Parenthood and Once Upon a Time in the West.
It’s been years since I watched Enemy of the State, good film I have it on DVD but it’s not a favorite, Will Smith was the only bright spot in the movie.
I liked Jason Robards in Parenthood and Something Wicked This Way Comes, but most memorable for me was his melancholic, soft-spoken outlaw Cheyenne in OUATITW.

I saw 12 including 11 of top 12(missed a thousand clowns). 10s and favorites: parenthood, all the presidents men. 10s not favorites: Julia, Philadelphia. 9s not favorites: magnolia, the paper, crimson tide. I may not have appreciated once upon a time in the west ,an 8 , due to my dislike of downers and fonda.
