  1. I saw 13 including top 8.10 and favorite : get shorty, 9 and favorite : gone in 60 seconds. 9 not favorite: up, Malcolm x, cider house rules. hidden gem : domino: violent and quirky an 8.

    1. Hey bob cox…thanks for the feedback on our Delroy Lindo page. I am right there with you on Get Shorty…one of my all-time favorite movies. Not right there with you on Domino…one of the few movies that I stopped watching…I only finished the movie (about a month later), because not finishing it was bugging me. But glad you liked it….it has a great cast…and usually I love movies directed by Tony Scott. Good stuff.

  2. I have seen 8 of the movies in the above tables and my favourite is Ransom. That is a 1996 reworking of Charlie Bill Stuart’s 1956 film of that name with the lead character in 1996 being allowed to go more ‘rogue’ as an action hero in true Mel Gibson mode than Charlie Bill was back in 1956 [perhaps he was saving his energy for many future lives!]

The ratings overall are a virtual dead heat between you and IMDB with you giving the 1956 version a 69% and IMDB doing the same, and you awarding the 1996 one 68% and IMDB coming in with 67%.

There was no contest at the box office though You credit Mel Gibson’s version with a whopping adjusted $630 million worldwide and whilst I can’t pick up a WW of yours for the 1956 movie you give it just a $57 million adjusted domestic gross which seems in line with Wiki’s suggestion that its global adjusted gross was only around $105 million.

IMDB credits Delroy with 2 acting awards and 8 nominations. He has a reported current net worth of $4 million. Over his 43 year career he has been prolific in his involvement with multi-mediums. On top of the long list of movies in the tables, he has appeared in 20 different TV productions and 6 theatrical plays. I gather he also directs for the theatre.

His Wikipedia page shows that Del secured awards and nominations in all three of the mediums that I have mentioned – so “Vote Up” to this new Cogerson page.

    1. Hey Bob. Thanks for checking out our Delroy Lindo page. In many ways he reminds me of Morgan Freeman. Actually for awhile it looked like he might become as big as Freeman. But after an awesome run from 1995 to 2000 it really slowed down for him after that. Good comparisons of the Ransom movies. Interesting that he has done lots of theatrical plays. Glad you shared these thoughts on Mr. Lindo. Good stuff.

      1. HI BRUCE

Thanks for your feedback here, for even more additional thoughts on Cameron and for looking in on the exchanges between Steve and me about John Derek.

Interesting comparison with Morgan Freeman with which I concur.

        1. Hey Bob….2018’s Hall of Famer G. Vandross looks like Delroy Lindo. One of our conversations at work involved Lindo, which is why we now have this page. Good stuff.

          1. HEY TEACH

You seem to discuss movies and stars a lot at work. I hope that those young students of yours are getting a proper all-round education and are not for example being left with the impression that the most important historical characters ever were not Albert Einstein, Franklin D Roosevelt or Mother Teresa but rather a guy called Joel and a gal named Myrna!

PS I am making good use of correction button – well done!

    1. Hey Dan. Sorry the new computer is a pain. But, I am glad to see you figuring out the new computer so quickly. Good lists on Delroy. Interesting that he has a spot in the Top 1000. For as long as he has been making movies, his movie output is not too high. Especially for a dependable and entertaining supporting actor like Mr. Lindo. His co-stars on the first list are pretty spread out. Looks like Bill Pullman is the only threepeat on the first list. His role in his Caine movie was pretty impressive. As for the second list. 20 Oscar winning co-stars seems on the low side. But not everybody can have stellar numbers in this category. Thanks for sharing this lists….you are the man.

  4. Great character actor. Seen a lot of his movies did not know he is British. The Core and Romeo must die are the two movies I remember him mostly in.

    1. Thanks George. I am telling you….you have a passing resemblance to Lindo. Will have to get others at work to see if they see the same thing. Romeo Must Die has some good action scenes. I think it is time for you to re-watch Get Shorty. Good to hear from you.

  5. An interesting subject Bruce, Lindo’s a familiar face. I didn’t know he was from London.

I’ve seen 16 of the 35 films on the chart. Favorites include – Congo, Ransom, The Hard Way, Broken Arrow, Rome Must Die, The One, The Core, The Devil’s Avocado and Up.

I remember enjoying A Life Less Ordinary but it’s been years since I last saw it. Maybe it’s time to give it another spin. Delroy played an ‘angel’ if I remember correctly. It’s a strange film.

Did I mention I haven’t seen The Cider House – Rules!

    Good stuff. Vote Up!

    1. Hey Steve. Thanks for checking out our look at Mr. Delroy Lindo. I have seen 19 of the movies listed above…so I am only a little bit ahead of you in the tally count. I did not realize he was a Brit either. Not thinking I have ever heard him use his British accent in any movie. Get Shorty (not on your favorites list) is easily my favorite Lindo movie and performance. The Hard Way is an underrated comedy…then again…I have not seen it in years. As for A Life Less Ordinary…..he does indeed play an angel. He and Holly Hunter play the most unusual angels in movies. I love the movie….but not many people agree with us on that one. One day Sir Michael and his Boston accent will get you to watch Cider House…..which has a very good Lindo performance as well. Good feedback as always.
