Michael Caine Movies

Want to know the best Michael Caine movies?  How about the worst Michael Caine movies?  Curious about Michael Caine box office grosses or which Michael Caine movie picked up the most Oscar® nominations? Need to know which Michael Caine movie got the best reviews from critics and audiences? Well you have come to the right place….because we have all of that information.

My father introduced me to Michael Caine (1933-) in the movie The Man Who Would Be King. Since that 1975 movie I have followed his career very closely. I am probably one of the few people on Earth who not only saw The Swarm at the theater but also Beyond the Poseidon Adventure  at the theater. After years of struggling as an actor, in the mid 1960s he finally became a star with the British films Zulu, Alfie, and Ipcress Files.  Since then he has starred in roughly 90 movies.  Over the years Caine has received 6 Oscar® nominations and 2 Oscar® wins.  Not only is he still popular after a 60 plus year career but he is still appearing in some the biggest movies out there (Inception, Batman trilogy). Currently he is director Christopher Nolan’s good luck charm.  Caine has appeared in the last 7 Nolan films (he has an uncredited voice role in 2017’s Dunkirk).

His IMDb page shows over 170 acting credits since 1956.  In the table below, Ultimate Movie Rankings ranks his movies in 6 different sortable columns.  Television roles, cameos, shorts and straight to DVD movies were not included in the rankings.

  1. Hi Bruce.
I saw the You Tube video on Caine, funny.
Being the huge fan of Michael Caine I know you are, I suspect you know the song by english band Madness.
    Great work.

    1. Hey Søren….glad you enjoyed our Cogerson Caine video….we had fun putting that together. I know two Madness songs….Our House and Michael Caine….great songs. Thanks for the comment and the visit.

  2. Great role for him in the new Batman movies, nice to see interesting supporting role. Hope he’s in new Affleck ones.

  3. I watch a lot of Caine films. I was thinkinng about him and Burt Reynold whose name you gave me to discuss on my to-do list.
I have a question about category for living actors who are still working in their old age. At what point do you consider them to be classic actors instead of the acting category?

    1. Hey Flora….I love Michael Caine….he has always reminded me of my dad….in the last 10 years Michael Caine has been in his most succesful movies ever. As for the category filing system….10 years without a movie and over 75 puts you in the classic category. Gene Hackman and Sean Connery sit in the classic category…..Michael Caine (3 movies this year) Sophia Loren (1 movie in 2014) and Sidney Poitier is in the classic group….but based on my made up rules he should be in the current group…as he is still acting….just not in movies that get released in theaters.

  4. “Andrew… remember… be sure and tell them… it was only a bloody game.” The last line from which Caine film? Nice update to your Michael Caine page Bruce. 86 films, wow! I’ve seen 42 of those films. From your personal top 10 I haven’t seen Deathtrap or Secondhand Lions. I like the ‘user-sortable’ tables, very cool. I still haven’t seen Interstellar or Kingsman. I’ll catch them both on Blu-ray.

    1. Hey Steve….that was of course the ending of Sleuth (1972)….I do not think the 2007 version of Sleuth ended that way. Only 42 Caine movies seen? I thought he was England favorite son. I will soon be doubling that total….lol. Deathtrap and Secondhand Lions are both good movies. Plus Kingsman is now in his Top 20….while Instellar is now in his Top 10…you need to see them soon. Thanks as always for visiting my many versions of this Michael Caine page…..it is greatly appreciated.
