Requests

requests1

Thankfully we get lots of requests for new pages.  Well…the wife recently informed me that my way of collecting my requests was pretty weak.  She seems to think that writing down requests on whatever piece of paper or napkin or bill that is currently on my desk is not the way to do it.  So….since she is way smarter than me….I have decided to create a page just for requests.  Plus it should give a good idea of what pages are coming down the pike.

My logic in picking which page to do next….I lean heavily towards the subject that has the most requests.

  • Roger Corman – request by Dan
  • Peter Cushing – request made by SteveLensman, Dan & Brando 90
  • Disney Live Action 1967-1980 – request by Mimic
  • Foreign Movies requested by Laurent
  • Samuel Goldwyn – request by Dan
  • Sam Katzman – request by Dan
  • Fritz Lang – request by Lupino, Just Me
  • Bruce Lee – request by Brando 90
  • Harold Lloyd – request by Søren, Me
  • Henry Mancini – request by Flora
  • Patricia Medina – request by Dan
  • Mirisch Brothers – request by Dan
  • Edward Small – request by Dan
  • Rudolph Valentino – request by Laurent

Completed requests:

Many more to come…have to find all of my old napkins and transfer the requests to this page.

I noticed Donna Reed is not listed among those performers who have been requested. So I will again request her.

Also, Leslie Nielsen. Shirley you can put aside enough time to do a chart on this great and enduring star.

    1. Hey John….I am a little behind on moving the requests from the comments to the request list…but I have Reed and Nielsen in my mental list…actually I have already done most of the research on Reed….currently I have several irons in the fire when it comes to classic subjects…Reed, Grayson, Keel and Milland. That generally means those pages will be coming out soon. As for Nielsen…I have not even looked at his career yet….but I will. 🙂

    1. Hey Kevin…I have 9 of her 13 movies in our database
      Movie/ BO Domestic (mil)
      Happy Landing (1938) $249.80
      Iceland (1942) $141.20
      It’s a Pleasure (1945) $138.40
      My Lucky Star (1938) $218.60
      One in a Million (1936) $146.10
      Second Fiddle (1939) $144.50
      Sun Valley Serenade (1941) $218.50
      Thin Ice (1937) $168.60
      Wintertime (1943) $88.30

Of the 4 remaining ones….the first one will be impossible to find, her cameo would not make my list….while I feel I could get the numbers for Everything Happens AT Night and The Countess of Monte Cristo.

  2. Hi Bruce
With all these recent comments about Sherlock Holmes, especially from Steve & Bob, how about a page on Basil Rathbone.

    1. Hey Soren….Mr. Rathbone will be added to the request list. I need to move lots of these requests from the comment section to the above list. Thanks for the suggestion.

  3. Hey Brando90…I will add Jacques Tourneur to the list…thanks for the suggestion. Currently I am only vaguely aware of him…so doing the research on him could be very interesting.

  4. Hi! There are few directors and a lot of stars, maybe an interesting director could be Jacques Tourneur, I just saw “Cat People” directed by him! Wonderful movie!

    1. Hey Brando,

you are right, Cat People IS an awsome movie! I like some other of his RKO B outings, too, and some Tourneur movies did good business in their day, despite not having big Stars or a high budget to benefit from. Another “B Classic” is his british Night of the Demon, starring former big star Dana Andrews.
