    1. Hey Dan. First of all thanks for the information on the happenings of New York City. The news there gets sadder and sadder everyday. Stay safe and healthy.

To the movie comment. As always great information on Simon Pegg. Thanks for sharing it with us. So he has a spot in the Top 1000. I would have guessed his ranking would have been lower. But, when you look at the stars on the first list…you see some big names and lots of big movie franchises.

When looking at the second list….it looks like Oscar winners stay away from those big movie franchises…as 12 is a pretty low number. Good stuff as always.

  2. HI BRUCE:

Thanks for the feedback. As you know I am not an action movie fan and franchises generaly bore me as I see them as rip offs of themselves or at least repetitive. For example I have never watched Godpop 3.

  3. I hadn’t seen Spaced on TV but I became a bit of a fan when I saw Simon Pegg in zombie spoof Shaun of the Dead, which was hilarious and well worth a watch if you’ve somehow missed it.

I’ve seen 23 of the 34 films on the chart, favorites are – Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The World’s End, Paul, Star Trek 1-2-3, Star Wars 7, Mission Impossible 3-4-5-6, Ice Age 3-4-5, Chronicles of Narnia 3, Ready Player One and The Adventures of Tintin.

Wow a couple of those Ice Age cartoons grossed over a billion dollars worldwide!

I used to p*ss off some of my movie forum buddies by referring to expensive Disney animation including Pixar as ‘cartoons’, they would correct me “no no no these are animated feature films” or “come on Steve it’s CG animation, stop calling them cartoons”. As if it was somehow embarassing to line up outside a cinema (US = theater) to watch a 90 minute cartoon. 🙂

    Good stuff Bruce. Vote Up!

    1. Hey Steve. Thanks for checking out our Simon Pegg page. I have seen three more movies than you, as I have seen 26 to your 23. I am somewhat shocked that you have not seen his television show that got him going. Granted, I am not seeing Spaced either. From what I’ve read it has a very avid following. I’ve seen all of your favorites, we enjoyed them all as well.Shaun of the Dead is probably my favorite, followed closely by Star Trek beyond. I’m still sad that his peers a fourth Star Trek is not coming. Good stuff as always.

  4. 3/Simon has a lot going for him in the pipeline:
COMPLETED [for May 2020 release] thriller movie Inheritance in which he has 3rd billed leading role.

POST-PRODUCTION: TV series Truth Seekers- a comedy series in which he has one of the lead roles in all 8 episodes filmed to date.

PRE-PRODUCTION: a computer animated family adventure movie Hump in which he is top billed as the voice of Basil.

ANNOUNCED: (1) an untitled Star Trek sequel in which he will play Scotty and Chris Pine will be the legendary Captain Kirk [one of my own 1960s heroes with Shatner in the role] (2) Mission Impossible 7 with Cruise again in the lead.

4/As an activist Simon is a feminist supporter via the group HeForShe. As this is a new page and we don’t have Joel to guide us on on the subjects of THOSE it has sent me on a learning curve and is therfore additional “grist to my mill” so it is “Voted Up!” for its helpfulness.

    1. Hey Bob. Thanks for listing all his upcoming projects. The man is a very very busy actor. His role in Shaun of the Dead has made him a household name in my house. The first time we watched that movie was on a Christmas morning. You know your standard Christmas movie …..zombies and gore . Once again thanks for sharing this information.

      1. HI BRUCE. Thanks for replying to BOTH parts of my post. Yes I do know the standard Christmas movie nowadays: as you say Zombies and Gore – and often **** & *** ****!

I should add that your new pages often out of the blue trigger for me nostalgic memories of past occurrences or things that can at times be related to your subject but on other occasions only obliquely so or not at all.

And so it is that your SIMON Pegg page suddenly reminded me of the days in the 1960s when I was a big fan of popular music and the “pop” charts. Going the rounds and in 1967 reaching No 4 in the Record Retailer chart was a song sung by The Alan Price Set called “Simon Smith and his Amazing Dancing Bear” and pop fans like myself could be heard constantly singing these words for a few weeks until the song disappeared from the charts and went out of fashion.

“I may go out tomorrow if I can borrow a coat to wear
Oh I’d step out in style with my sincere smile and my dancing bear
        Outrageous alarming courageous charming
Oh who would think a boy and bear
        Could be well accepted everywhere
It’s just amazing how fair people can be”

  5. I have seen [or rather heard!] Simon in just the Ice Age franchise though I remember his character well from that as it was one of the favourites of my grandchildren who always accompanied me to those movies.

I am therefore glad that you have retained your Possibly Interesting Facts section as it gives me some immediate knowledge of thespians in the modern cinema with whom I am largely/completely unfamiliar. Encouraged by your profiled I have researched Simon further and find that-

1/On top of his movie career he has been in 33 TV productions from 1995-2019; and made 4 video games between 2010 and 2016 two of which were based on the Star Wars/Star Trek franchises

2/His labours have so far earned him a net worth of $25 million and IMDB credits him with 10 acting awards and 21 noms.

    1. Hey Bob. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Simon Pegg. Surprised you not seen him in any of his live action movies. There are some major franchises in his resume. Interesting that his voice role in Ice Age is the only one you’ve seen. I liked him as Buck the first time he appeared, can’t say he made too much impact on the sequels he appeared in. Thanks for sharing all the additional information on him. That is a very solid net worth for a comedian. Good stuff as always.
