However Ben [who like his brother has done some fine writing and producing/directing on top of acting] is credited with 73 acting awards and 110 noms and a current net worth of $150 million; and Casey is down for 67 awards/60 noms and a present net fortune of $20 million. So both men can as I have said rightly consider themselves great successes.
And certainly [although it was just a modest commercial success if that] I MUST highlight Casey’s critical success with Manchester by the Sea not least because lots of good things on this site are associated with a place called Manchester!
However my own point is that all success is of course relative [Welles was never a major box office star] and [despite their broad success in the movie business] the two brothers seem to have missed their chance to join that select group of MEGA STARS who have largely dominated the male BOX OFFICE over the last 4 decades such as Hanks/Cruise/Willis/Depp/DiCaprio/Pitt and Mike Douglas.
I never thought that Casey would crack that monopoly but at one time I felt that Ben [as an actor] might and it disappointed me that he has not so far as I find him very easy to watch. However “Que Sera Sera” – and Casey has supporting roles in The World to Come which has just been completed; and Every Breath you Take which is at post-production stage. Ben will direct and star in a remake of Agatha Christie’s Witness for the Prosecution which was a great screen success back in 1957 with Ty Power/Laughton/Dietrich.
Casey and his brother Ben have both been highly successful in movies for over a quarter of a century now and probably will continue to be. However AS A STAR Casey’s last big hit was Interstellar back in 2014 and he has just a supporting role in that one.
Whilst Ben has fared much better his biggest hits of late have tended to be with the ensemble action/super-hero movies and although he has had other strong successes with the likes of Gone Girl and Pearl Harbor his overall box office performance in stand-alone hit movies has tended to be patchy as a detailed analysis of Bruce’s figures suggest to me.
Ben’s The Way Back released in May this year for example has grossed just an actual $15 million worldwide so far. His The Last Thing He Wanted also released this year and 2019’s Triple Frontier have barely registered statistically in the tables ON BEN’s own Cogerson page having been aired through Netflix.

Hey Dan…..thanks for the information on Casey Affleck. It seems like his career has been derailed for past actions. Not surprised he is not on the Oracle 1000. I am surprised that Matt Damon and not Ben Affleck is his most frequent Oracle co-star. 25 Oscar winning co-stars is pretty impressive for some one so early in his career. Good stuff.
