Hey Dan. Thanks for the James Earl Jones trivia information. I just realized I missed a Ryan Reynolds comment from you. You did that comment in May 2018….it took me almost an entire year to respond. My response time is much better for this JEJ comment….less than 12 hours.
So James is in the Top 100…..gotta admit….I did not think he would be that high in the rankings. Looks like Harrison Ford is his most frequent co-star…even though all of Jones’ work in the Star Wars movies goes into the “uncredited” category. That makes no sense….Jones’ voice as Darth Vadar is what makes it Darth so awesome.
48 Oscar winning co-stars is a pretty good total. I bet he has a chance to cross 50…..but not thinking that total is going to rise too much more…especially since Jones is almost 90. Though he does have The Lion King coming out this summer.

When the book was written (1983), James Earl Jones had not really appeared in many movies.
Any day I get to mention Joel’s book Rating The Movie Stars is a good day.

I broadly agree with your analysis of James Earl’s career though I did think that as you – rightly – dwelt to an extent on James’ stage output, even broader balance would have been brought to the matter had you also covered Mr Jones’ contribution to television where [albeit after your 1983 version of Psycho was printed] he has the distinction of being the only actor ever to win two Emmys in the same year – 1991 for Gabriel’s Fire [lead] and Heatwave [support]
Also worthy of mention from James’ television CV are I feel productions such as Roots followed by Roots 2 which attracted considerable praise including a Golden Globe for best series and Primetime Emmys for the series and for an “outstanding supporting performance by a Mr Brando whom you may have heard of in your day.
Overall James appeared in just under 50 television productions dating back to 1963.
