  3. On top of her prolific film career I have seen Diane credited with (1) 14 TV productions between 1981 and today. Her performances include Stelaaaah! in a 1995 television movie production of Streetcar with Alec Baldwin in the old Brando role of Stanley.

    (2) 8 stage plays from 1971 – 2016. They include the classics The Cherry Orchard and Tennessee Williams’ Sweet Bird of Youth. Those 8 credits feature her in 2 separate productions of The Cherry Orchard – the first in 1976/ 77 and the 2nd in 2016.

IMDB credits Diane with 15 acting awards and 32 noms; and she has a current reported net worth of $45 million. In the pipeline for her are at post-production stage a TV series and 2 movies: Let Him Go a crime thriller co-starring Kevin Costner; and a further outing in the Justice League franchise with Diane reprising her Martha Kent role/ Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman and Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman.

    1. Hi Bob, thanks for reviewing my Diane Lane video, the generous rating and info are much appreciated.Glad you liked the picture gallery.

Diane was so cute back in the 80s in films like The Cotton Club and Streets of Fire. But I didn’t expect her to have much of a career, luckily she proved she was more than just a pretty face and has been working steadily ever since. And has an Oscar nomination too.

No films scored 10 or 9 out of 10 from my sources. Pixar’s Inside Out has the highest rating average from Rotten Tomatoes with 8.9. Bruce’s critic’s chart has the highest rating for that film with 9.5.

Several films scored 8 out of 10 including Chaplin, Trumbo and A Little Romance.

Inside Out tops all the charts including mine and Bruce’s.

“Even the short men I know appreciate a woman in heels.”

“In five years, I had done 13 films, which I think broke Elvis’s record.”

Diane Lane comparing herself to her mother, a former Playboy magazine centerfold – “Mom was better endowed.”

      1. HI STEVE:

Thanks for the feedback and further detail – solid information about the workings of your own ratings system.

I should clarify that my favourite among Diane’s films is Trumbo but the role that I best like her in is her outing in Under the Tuscan Sun: in Trumbo Bryan Cranston is The Man whereas in Tuscan Sun Diane is The Woman – ie the top-billed central character.

Over the past 10 years I have sometimes watched the latter when I have returned from a holiday abroad as it keeps me post-holiday in a cheerful mood being a nice bit of feelgood “mush”! “If you build the railway trains WILL come someday!”

        1. If Diane’s mother is “better endowed” than Diane mum must be “some pup” as the old saying goes. Possibly therefore the only human ever to have been a better physical specimen that Mother Lane is a man – Alan Ladd!

HAROLD STEPTOE [at a retirement home where he is trying to coax his elderly father Albert to admit himself]: “This would be a nice little place for you to live dad but don’t be bothering those pretty female attendants.”

ALBERT STEPTOE “Don’t you tell me what to do around women” [and he adds as two carers help a frail 90- year-old woman into the restroom] “THAT one had better watch out for a start if I’m in here!”

[Steptoe and Son – Brit television comedy series 1962-1974]

By the way Diane’s next Justice League*** is scheduled for 2021 release the coronavirus and backlogs permitting [panic as Steve carrying backpack and blankets runs out into the night and claws his way through the Manchester crowds to find an advance movie-house queue for 2021].

***To be called “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” – Zack who? Bonus material: archives footage of Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth.

          1. Aloha Bob, Zack Snyder started directing Justice League a few years ago but half way thru filming there was a family tragedy, his daughter commited suicide. Too grief stricken to continue filming he left the project and the film was completed by Joss Whedon, director of the first two Avengers movies.

Apparently Zack and the actors were not too happy with that edition of the film. WB has allowed Zack the chance to complete the film the way he originally envisioned it and it will be released on HBO Max streaming in 2021. It will be 3 hours long from what I’ve heard.

Zack Snyder had a hit with 300 (Spartans) in 2006 and has since directed Watchmen, Man of Steel and Batman v Superman. I’m looking forward to his version of Justice League

          2. HI STEVE: Thanks for the explanations about Zack. Sad about his daughter. In Hollywood’s classic era great directors like Hitchcock and John Ford were such box office draws in their own right that their names were often amalgamated as part of a film’s title. ALFRED HITCHCOCK’s PSYCHO roared many 1960 posters and marquees; and usually at the very least those directors shared above the title billing to one degree or another with the mega stars – for example JAMES STEWART in ALFRED HITCHCOCK’s REAR WINDOW. The posters for Psycho and Rear Window on their Wikipedia pages are examples of what I am talking about as is Wiki’s Liberty Valance poster

Today we’re in an era where hand-in-hand with bucket-loads of money and awards being thrown at even relative nonentities in the entertainments business directors increasingly take it upon themselves to demand special billing. It is not uncommon to see for even television movie directors of whom I have never heard stand-out billing arrangements such as “A Film by [Name of Director]”.

This implies that the director concerned is very important and highly artistic and that the film therefore is some kind of special potential masterpiece. I regard such practices as generally snobbish and pretentious as on most occasions the director concerned will not attract many additional patrons to the box office. Certainly few if any of them will ever be in the Hitchcock league as a commercial draw and a master craftsman.

    1. Hey Dan. Yet another comment filled with tons of trivia and fun facts that makes you look at all the connections an actress like her makes during a career that covers so many years. Slightly surprised she’s so high on the list but she has been making movies for five decades now.Matt Dillon is one of her more frequent co-stars. 27 after winning costars seems low for someone highly ranked on the list. That is cool that you saw Big Town in London. Good stuff as always.
